Default Datasystem Speed sensor Question

I’ve done my fair share of research & going through most of the threads regarding Datasystem, & couldn’t find the answer I’m looking for, so if you’re inclined to reply w/a “USE THE SEARCH!”, please don’t bother responding, even if you know the answer.

I have the ASR 681 wireless system installed & deciding whether to install the speed sensor or not.

W/O the sensor installed, I’m aware on the 2 presets, my car will still lower a bit at speeds around 65mph.

My question…If sensor is installed, when I’m in Normal mode, will my car still lower itself, or does the sensor eliminate the lowering function entirely?

TIA.

Normal mode means non memory mode . Standard factory height due speed and weight balancing function will work . I have ASR682 .

Sounds like you're having fun customizing your ride. Enjoy and do it the way you like it!

I would think the automatic lowering is in operation when the Datasystem is in Normal Mode but have not verified it, as most of the time mine is set on one of the custom presets, Front at 6 and rear 4 to be exact. Post #227 also mentions this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...thread-16.html

When I installed all 8 new front control arms, I torqued to spec the 4 lower arms while all 4 wheels were up on ramps (FIGS poly bushings in all 4 uppers), and with the car at the ride height I normally drive and leave the car set at. The '07-'12 speed harness plugs into the back of the nav unit; however, I 've read that '13+ is much easier to connect, as the plug is located behind the cup holder.

Swfla - yessir. She’s turning into a financial slippery slope. Oh, I also just got a single stack Oliver Enterprises exhaust vents, a few days ago

Lwphat66 - I’m thinking the same as you. When I was in one of my presets & hit 65mph, I could hear the unit beeping in my glove box, indicating that the height was being adjusted. Once I exited the freeway & went below 65 mph, the audible beeping once again started, indicating the height was adjusting again.

I don’t recall hearing the beeping when I’m in “normal” mode, but I’ll find out tomorrow.

EDIT: On the preset, DS does NOT make an audible sound when lowering at 65MPH. It only makes the beeping sound when you slow down from 65MPH, and it needs to raise itself to match the preset height.

It's been a while since I read over the DS manual, but I think the speed limit setting is adjustable and that it's only a warning when the car reaches that set speed. Perhaps a warning to remind the driver that the car is lowered. Recommend checking the speed limit setting on the DS controller, mine is set at 0.

From research and forum posts, the auto lowering/raising occurs at about 38-40mph. In my set up, the Height High light comes on/off within that speed, confirming that the speed cable is doing its job and countering the auto function and also letting you know via the light that it's doing so. Below pic is my regular, everyday drive height and haven't had any issues the last 2.5 years. When approaching speed bumps, sharp inclines, etc. I just press the Height High button to ensure more clearance. Very pleased with the Datasystem controller, as well as the ride overall because I have mine set up more for handling/road feel than comfort.

Ah, thanks for chiming in again! I recognize your car from the OG data systems thread.

When you put car in HH for speed bumps & pot holes, do you pull over to give car some time to lift, or you’re doing it while driving?

I press/depress it on the fly. Takes about a minute or so (probably less) to reach the ~1 inch height increase. Most of the time I know where/when exactly I need to use it, otherwise I may have to slow down or even pull over if I happen to be somewhere I'm not familiar with.

Mine is similar in height to yours but a little higher in the front. I did it with the links because of the cost in cdn dollars for the data systems unit, the height switch still brings it up to clear most things.
I really like that blacked out look on your car, do you ever slam it or is that too hard on equipment?

Thanks brother, appreciate the kind words! Would prefer the nice black paint of yours, but some neglect over the years was partly what caused the blacked out route and having the hood, roof, and trunk deck vinyl wrapped. I do air it out occasionally, maybe once or twice a month.

Have you ever had any issues with 1 side OR corner being a different height compared to the opposite side?

Fortunately, no. However, every once in a while I can eyeball a slight difference in the fender gap, and my OCD tendencies kick in. Then I will go to the Shell station I normally use, as I have found parking as close to the pump on the concrete slab is one of the most level places I have found. Most parking lots, streets, etc. are more canted for water drainage so obviously they're not the most ideal for my "levelling reset" procedure.

After finding a relatively level location, I will change from my lowered preset to Normal Mode, and once complete, I will then press the High Height switch. After that, I'll switch to Normal Mode and then back to my lowered preset. Then I'll check the Datasystem level LEDs as well as a visual check of the fender/wheel gap again. Someone asked recently to see a pic of my ride at the Normal Mode height, so here it is for reference:

I recently hooked up the speed sensor cable, BUT it still lowers the height at freeway speeds.

Can someone confirm if I need to reset the OEM air system ECU, or maybe a battery pull?

TIA!
