2009 LS460 air strut removal question................
I've gotten a couple opinions about the thumping/rattling noise coming from our front passenger side and while I thought that it might be the lower control arm bushings going out, two shops (one was the dealer and another is a local shop that has been around for 40 years and has built a good reputation as being fair and knowledgeable) and they both said it was the air strut. I figure that I'd order the strut and give it a shot at replacing it myself.
I read on here somewhere (but can't find the post) that someone replaced an air strut without separating the ball joints. I'd like to try this to avoid needing an alignment (but would probably get one anyway just to be safe).
If you have any advice or tips that you'd be willing to share, they'd be Greatly Appreciated before jumping into this repair adventure. By the way, the car is an AWD version.
Thanks in advance!

I still have the passenger side in my garage that I'll offload for cheap, if you want to go that route. It has 86K miles.
PM if interested.
NEVERMIND...MINE IS A RWD. DIFF PART.
XF40FSPORT: Thanks for the offer but as you said, it wouldn't work anyway. Even if it did, I ordered a new one already and am just waiting for it to come in.
How many miles are on the OEM struts?
Just curious to see if there's a noticeable variance in dampening from old vs new. I decided to swap both out, knowing it wouldn't ride properly at 86K miles.
