Default Rock auto upper control arms $15 each

does anyone have experience with the rock auto ckp upper control arms @ $15 each?

they have a heart next to them indicating they are purchased more often than the other arms for sale

what are the symptoms of bad upper control arms / bushings?

although my upper control arms show no signs of cracking I suspect they need to be replaced from your description of vague steering

last night I saw a video of a gentleman replacing all of his control arms mentioning the lowers only lasted 60k miles while the uppers lasted 100k I was under the impression that control arm bushings only need to be replaced when cracked and damaged but the LS must be different mine show no visual damage but something is very wrong with my front end suspension.

That is a worn bushing but I've seen worse. What do the other bushings on that arm look like? You need to see the full picture. If this is the only sign of wear on all arms, I personally, wouldn't bother replacing it yet.

There are two sides to each upper arm bushing. That's four pictures.

I would not be surprised if the rubber is completely or mostly separated from the inner metal sleeve. And when the steering is turned near or at full lock, the arm is sliding or shifting and maybe even popping off the separated metal/rubber core. Those bushings take a lot of punishment and flexing the more the steering is turned. You can see for yourself if you jack the front end up and have someone turn the steering wheel for you. I try to advise people to have a good look at the control arms when the vehicle is in the shop and on a lift or alignment rack.

There is only 1 bushing in each of the 4 upper control arms, and in my opinion, the bushing pictured is shot.

That's torn, with how much those arms move that 100% is allowing way too much deflection. I would replace all 4 upper arms, the front two receive most of the wear due to how the multi link works

I would listen to the other members who recommend replacing this arm. They are more knowledgeable than me.

Not great but likely not totally torn/allowed to move past where it should.

Issue with multi link suspension type is that if one part is worn then all the load will hammer the worn part much more than the others. It's not able to hide wear as well as a double a arm setup or strut setup. There is a thread in here showing how much movement multi link setups experience
