Buying car parts in advance of needing them......vs........totaling or selling the car before you can install them. Something I personally wouldn't do.

On the other hand, buying something you know you will need while it's on sale is wise. It's how we ended up with 250 rolls of toilet paper back in April 2020, all having been bought on sale many moths prior, and we never needed to buy it again until a few months ago.

Will the fluid inside of the shock absorber degrade overtime? For example if a car is 10 years old with 43k miles is it worth it to replace them

Shocks need to be replaced when they no longer dampen the spring induced bounce. It's typically a gradual process due to the fluid seals wearing. Typically miles vs time. To answer your question, typically, NO. Looking at the shock, if the fluid residue on the shaft goes further than 2/3 down, it's also a sign to replace.
