Looking at a used 460
Hi everyone. I’ve owned two LS400s and the 430s over the years. I sold my last 430 two years ago to buy a truck and have regretted it. I am currently toying with the idea of getting rid of my truck (it’s valued super high) and getting a 460.
I found a 2014 L with 116k miles for 27k. Regularly maintained by Lexus every 5k miles. It’s beige which I don’t love. I also found a 2017 L with 60k miles for 45k. That’s probably more than I want to spend but it’s a beautiful car.
Anything I should be considering here? I know this is a challenging market for sure.

A few thoughts for ya:
- For the 2014 L, anything other than usual wearout items mentioned in service records? Is it an air suspension? Any mention of control arms or other suspension-related parts? If all looks good, 116K wouldn't scare me away. Also, it the exterior paint color Satin Cashmere Metallic, not beige :-) Last August, I purchased a 2013L in that color. I was not fond of that color at all. I posted on CL about that as it was holding me back. I received many thoughtful, and helpful perspectives. In the end, I decided that I could tolerate it because the car had a rare feature that I needed, and is hard to find (Lane Keep Assist -- yes, it is hard to find on an LS460 believe it or not). I have absolutely gotten used to the color, and I now like it a bit. Zero regrets!! It takes on different looks depending on how the sun hits it, which I find pretty cool. And, it always looks freshly washed -- dirt doesn't show on it!!! In any event, paint color is personal, and only you can make the call on that.
- What one is willing to spend is also personal. If you have time to look a bit, and get a feel for value in this market that might serve you well. I'm not suggesting that you take months, and months. But, if you can, look vigorously at what comes up for sale, and look at options, mileage, condition, service record, and price.
Good luck!!!

Thank you. I am liking the color more. It does not have air suspension. Looks like pretty basic maintenance, im not seeing anything about the suspension in the logs which makes me
nervous.
nervous.
There may be two sides to that coin!!! On one side, it says awesome, the car hasn't needed anything (e.g., control arms), so, this one is looking good. On the other side, the car hasn't had it done yet (and my take is that they do need replacing eventually), so, that's going to be an expense down the road. Although, an open item is how far down the road would this need to be done.

Once you clay bar the paint and make the color and sparkle POP, you'll learn to like the color more. Two owners is OK in my book. Even if it has original control arms, they can be upgraded to new version (not a fatal flaw).
