Default Inner tyre wear

Hello.

2007 LS 460
2WD
Air suspension

My LS is exhibiting excessive inner tyre wear front and rear.

Before the last set of tyres (last April) I had Lexus do an alignment, so they checked all the bushes etc. and said all was OK. However all four tyres are wearing badly, to the point they will need replacing soon. I don't even think I have put 10,000 miles on this set.

The car had front bushes done about 25,000 miles ago. Nothing done to the rear though.

I did a search and the wear I am experiencing, particularly on the rear, does not seem to be a common issue on the LS (like e.g. front bushes or brake actuator is). There are threads discussing inner tyre wear on the ISF forum, but I'm unsure how much crossover this is with the IS and the LS suspension.

Can anyone help?

Going thru the same thing, last week i tried to get high speed balance because of vibrations, doing 80 on hwy, n they couldn't do it because inner tire wear. This will be my 2nd alignment this year. Got a feeling it's something with suspension...08 460L/air with 6mon old Bridgestone tires

Have you had the wheel bearings checked? Go to a tire store and ask them to check alignment. Not every Lexus dealer has a good service dept.

Did lexus give you the alignment sheet when you had it done, maybe the numbers on the paper will give us more info to help. I used to have a car with very aggressive toe and camber that would cause the inner side of the tires to wear down to metal in ~20k miles.

This is key. My dealer said "A-OK" for the alignment but when I asked for the sheet, the front camber was way off. "Well, it's not adjustable so you'll just have to live with it" was their response!

What size are your wheels. Do you have air suspension or coilovers - nevermind, I didn't read OP properly.
Is your air suspension in good condition?

Typically, when a non adjustable is "way off" , it's due to a bent part/s. If anyone has driven the car besides you, they may have hit a pothole or sideswiped a curb causing damage.

I would see if you could get a recommendation for a top shop doing alignments and take it there.

Yes, but not always. Camber adjuster bolts for the LS are available from the aftermarket but the dealer (obviously) isn't going to go that route.

"Typically" is another way of saying, "Yes, but not always"

Yes, but in my case there was zero evidence of any damage to the suspension parts so I'm assuming is was sloppy assembly/poor tolerances in the first place. The dealer offered to replace parts but wouldn't guarantee that it would fix the camber problem, so that's where my assumption comes from. I did find a TSB on camber issues with the LS460 where the suspension is completely loosened and "pushed up against the limit" before retorquing in order to correct this but they wouldn't do that either!

Hey do you have a link to the TSB?

Are you sure camber bolts are available? Where from? I did a search and the camber blots that came up for a 460 had about 100 other cars listed 🤷‍♂️

this is where I’m at. I seem to have quite a bit of negative camber.

They did give me the print out but I can’t find it. Everything was in spec, but there seems to be quite a bit of negative camber (near the limit).
