Default LS 460 Smart Card Key? Where?

Anyone know where to get a smart card key? Only at the dealer?

You can get a virgin used key on Ebay for around $90, at least, you used to be able. You will have program it yourself. There is also an aftermarket solution for around $110 on Amazon. It was posted not so long ago.

Thank you! But that's a key FOB. The LS also comes with a credit card smart key that you keep in your wallet. It's a little thicker than a regular credit card. It's good to have if you lose your keyfob.

The 460 only comes with two keys, it's not a 430 that comes with 4

The LS600 adds in a ultra slim smart key but that's it. The flat key is gone

You can buy and add a credit card key, be very careful what key you buy as not all of them are compatible. If you do a search for credit card key under my name, I did this in 2018 and have a thread about it.

95% of keys you buy off eBay won't work.

Aw fiddlesticks. Thanks for the info. Still haven't been able to take pictures.. Just got the sunshades in for the front and side windows. Debating on getting the rear window sunshade.

EDIT... holy smokes what an ordeal to get the CC key. And kudos for doing the work. The key is $233 at most of the OEM places so I will keep that in mind. Here is one of them... they now list it as compatible with 2013 - 2017 LS 460 Base, F Sport and L.

You can absolutely buy a credit card key for your LS.

No, like this:

It will replace your fob, just goes in your wallet.

Okay, Boykie time. Picture is indeed a 'credit card sized' smartkey.
To cut to the chase - two pointers:
1. E.g. my '11 did include two fob smarts and one card smart. From factory. As my previous '10 did. So, they were included with some cars from start. But I also do know, b-stard resellers frequently steal that card key, as resale value is decent (and price started to come down now but at some point I remember dealer price for adding a card - card itself+programming was pushing 1500$+).
2. There are at least three 'frequency regions'. us, eu, jp. As well as 'smartkey version' revisions, incompatible with each other. That means that hunting for those online is risky. You can receive a different region/type key and even after 'resetting it' (yes there is a 'virginization' process possible with some specialist equipment) you may not be able to pair it to your car successfully. I guess best bet here is to look for us only key (e.g. make sure with seller that parts car was us destination etc). Then you'll need a decent car locksmith shop to reset the keycard (as dealer won't do it. not out of spite - just no equipment for that). I do, in fact, possess a piece of equipment, capable of doing such (just bought one off ali as a proof of concept/hobby project). It's very specialist and borderline legal (ali one), but I know locksmiths nowadays possess legal ones capable of same operations. I bet one of your local reputable locksmith would be able to help. That equipment also mostly able to do pairing to car without need of dealer tool (at least on LS3/4).

Hope that helps

ps. just to show the f off - i have a smartkey that is a... watch. and it's not a mcguyver. it's a real toyota+citizen product. nyah. it does not lock/unlock car by it's buttons (jpn region) but it does work as smart key to start/open haaaaa brrraaap google cowboys, your turn

To be fair, it is possible to add a non-virgin key but you will have to do "all keys lost" option in Techstrem. And it requires a seed generator (online options available) which I had at some point or a valid subscription. I have done it on Camry and Prius, and it does work indeed.

Nope I was asking about that key. Mystery solved. It's about $240 at the OEM online vendors.
