Default Ambient Temperature Sensor --- Where Does It Go?

The dash indicator for outside temp stopped working. I figured the sensor must be bad and was about to order a new one. But first I went looking for the location of the old one and couldn't see it anywhere. Supposedly behind the grill, driver's side? Then I discovered the entire sensor with connector laying at the bottom-front of the radiator. Now I need to figure out how to rewire/solder the thing back together, if that can even be done. I'm guessing I'll need a new connector in addition to the sensor. Help with suggestion appreciated!

It would be so much easier to help if we knew what year is your car.

Yes, you have to get a new connector. But I would not rush with a new sensor yet.

That can all be saved. Re-join the wires. Remove the plug from the sensor and remove the pins from the plug. A very small screwdriver (or needle) is normally all that is needed to remove the pins from the plug. Once removed, you should be able to rejoin (solder) the wires to the existing loom. Done. If not confident, a good mechanic or an auto electrician will be all over this.

I believe it mounts into the bottom of the actual bumper (more toward the driver's side) and that removal of the bumper cover is required to access it. At work now but can check out the service manual when I get home tomorrow. I think this is it: https://www.discountpartsmonster.com...IFJlc3VsdHM%3D

Most cars mount the outside temp sensor below/under bumper. Personally, I wouldn't remove the bumper cover. I'd find a new home for it in that general area. Speaking of sensors, there's a smog sensor mounted top and front side of radiator, passenger side. It unbolts easily and can be opened to wash or replace the filter. It tells the climate control to recirculate air if it's smoggy outside. Guaranteed it'll be filthy. I just washed mine in warm soapy water and it turned white again. There are also front seat air filters on the bottom of both perforated seats. Easiest way to access is to unbolt 4 bolts holding seats in place. They are available for order or you can wash them. Another set of filters are on the underside of the air filter covers. They aren't replaceable or washable but can be vacuumed.

I'm having no success finding the original wires where it connects. Can someone please explain where the sensor is supposed to mount so I know where to find the 2 connecting wires? A photo would be great!

From my '07, looks like it might be accessed from below. It is located inside driver side, lower air intake about a 1/4 of the way from the inner edge. Not certain, but looks like it may be the red tape marked wire loom just below driver side horn.
