motor mounts 4th gen
2010 LS with 58k miles spent most of time in Florida and now motor mounts need replaced. Is this a common issue with this year/mileage? What is expected replacement cost at dealership versus independent shop?
I would inspect transmission mounts as well. I believe, the manual calls to remove the engine in order to replace the engine. But it can be done by removing the front subframe while supporting the engine. I think, a Lexus dealer will charge, at least, $1k just for labor.
Did they check the control arms as well? There is a chance somebody pushed the car little too hard.

It's possible, depends how you drive. I am putting way more strain into mine than the last owner and I don't expect them to live much longer.
Replacement of the mounts is not actually that hard, just get subframe loose. I have a lift so for me it's fine but in the ground may be annoying/hard. Trans mount is very easy

The Lexus Dealer will quote you $3,500 for motor mount replacement, citing engine out service as the reason.
It can be done in a few hours with jacks and jackstands in the garage and around $300 in parts, no need to mess with fluids or other shenanigans.

About 150$ for each front mount, 300 in total. But I own a fully stocked garage with lifts. And it's not for squeamish, esp. on awd cars. Oh and alignment afterwards is a must (suspension disconnect during job). BTW every time we do front mounts on LSes - it's so night and day how car feels and drives afterwards. Siiiiiiiilk
Rear (trans) mount is more of a driveline vibration dampener, way cheaper and can be wiggled out/in without too much trouble. No big ride improvement, except if those are torn/sagged a lot.

Excess engine movement in bay, vibration felt in various places of the car especially when cold (mounts that are _almost_ dead will vibrate when cold but somewhat smooth out after warming up) - telltale signs of bad mounts.
thats where I think I’m at. I don’t notice after a few minutes. I think my tranny mounts are fine thou…
