Default Almost Brand new LS 460L

Came across an almost brand new 2008 Lexus LS 460L with 4k miles. Garage kept and serviced in immaculate garage. Hard to find a comparison price. Any thoughts on what you would pay. It’s loaded and gorgeous.

Was it actually brought for a service to replace aging fluids: oil, gas etc? It should not have any other repairs apart from recalls due to such low mileage. Online price estimators should give a good starting point. It is an old vehicle though.

A few years ago there was a 6000 mile '07 LS 460 L offered for sale by a dealer in South Texas. It was listed at 25 grand and was for sale for a long, long time (maybe it still is). Although I don't recall the particulars, it had a peculiar history that did not help its value.

It sounds like the subject '08 would be a good candidate for BaT and is likely a 20 grand car.

the value is based on what someone appreciates and desires that particular vehicle..

reality is I have a 2010 I happen to love it,

my sister has a new 3 series I drove for the fourth weekend,

the technology is changing so fast with safety, infotainment and accessibility,

the time for these gas guzzling v8 is limited

but I enjoy and smile each time I drive mine and enjoy it immensly

good luck

and more specifically with your quesitons

take the wholesale value or retail value and add about 6500 dollars on top for the mileage
that would be a good estimate.

The only thing I would be wary of is if the car sat for extended periods. It is one thing if it was driven for a couple miles regularly, and another if it sat for years without being driven. Gaskets and seals tend to harden when a car just sits for years. Replacement can be expensive repairs.

You are much better off with 2013+ model even at expense of higher mileage, it has less issues as well.

I agree with Anfanger that at that price point, a newer LS makes more sense. For comparison, last fall a member here bought an 8000 mile '14 LS 460 L (with all options except the Executive Class Seat Package) from a Lexus dealer for just over 40k. Granted, that was before the used market went crazy.

Other reasons that mitigate against the subject '08:

Paying a steep premium for ultra low mileage guarantees a huge hit in value once you start putting miles on it.

One of the primary things that impacts value is the ability to borrow money against a vehicle. An '08 is now going on 14 years old which severely restricts its market.

LS models are so well built that miles don't impact them to the same extent as many other cars. My 600, for example, has zero rattles, etc., at 84,000 miles and its all leather interior is wearing like iron.

Of course, as others have said, a vehicle's worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. If this '08 tickles your fancy, by all means go for it because at the end of the day only your opinion matters.

All good points, particularly the hit you will take if the car is your daily driver.

Of course if one is a collector and intends to keep it on display with other collector cars, then this is probably the lowest mileage example out there.

Consider LS 430 available right now in our marketplace.

100% an important aspect to keep in mind. And, replacing various gaskets, and seals alone can easily run into $thousands.
