Default Ride height differences on air suspension

Looking at a 2009 AWD with air suspension. When you press ride height how much does the height change? I couldn’t see any change. Should it be noticeable?

Suggest measuring from the top of each tire to edge of wheel well for both height settings to determine if the system is fully operational

I think, it is around one inch, but I could be wrong. It also takes some time to bring the car up.

It's not much at all. On my 600, it is less than one inch in the front and closer to one-half inch in the back by casual measurement. Also, a "Height High" light will illuminate on the dash.

If the height does not rise, make sure the struts have not been switched to the non-air variety.

Struts as in air springs switched to regular coils, I.e air ride delete?

Sure, it is not uncommon due to the high price of Lexus air struts.

I documented it somewhere on these forums. I don't have the data in front of me.

I measured about a 1 inch increase at all four wheel well gaps.

I found my measurements, they are below. The below represents the height gained from stock to HEIGHT HIGH. I found a level spot in a parking lot. I drove around, stopped in that spot, put the vehicle in Neutral, and then allowed the vehicle to roll until it stopped. It was usually just inches, but doing so put me in the most level spot I could get.

After pushing the button to HEIGHT HIGH, I would remain in that same spot for about 2 minutes then I would drive around the parking lot (to ensure these was no binding in the suspension), come back to the exact same spot (as close as I could), put it in Neutral, let off the brake and let it adjust itself (usually inches). Then I would get out and measure.

Height High increase per wheel:
  • LF = 1.063"
  • RF = 0.688"
  • LR = 0.938"
  • RR = 0.500"
  • Avg = 0.797"
The left side increased more. Perhaps it was due to me being in the driver's seat then getting out. I couldn't say.

Great answer! Thanks for that. Next time can you get readings that are a little more exact. LOL!

For about $450-$700 used, you can get the Data Systems ASC680L or ASR681/682 module so you can dial in the precise height you want electronically. Here is mine dumped all the way down as far as it will go while parked. But I normally drive about 2 inches down from normal ride height. Just enough to remove wheel gap. I honestly don't even use the Comfort or sport settings at all. There is an entire thread dedicated to the module in the FAQ/DIY sticky here in the 4th gen forum
