Battery quality seems to be the reason for OEM sensors to last so long.

anyone know if we can change that "Main Tire" to 4 from 5?
I rather not have to change the TPMS on the spare and save ~$60.

All five sensors must be working or you'll get a waning light and no pressure readings on any tire. To change the sensor location readings, you must reprogram the car using either Techstream or a TPMS specific handheld device.

Great write up! May I know what cable you used with TechStream? My cheap cable from Amazon didn't work. Thanks!

I would buy the sensors for ~$40 each from RockAuto. Make sure they are the PACIFIC brand which are the Lexus OEM brand. And pay a tire shop $100 for install when you need a wheel balance. I’m sure discount tire would do it no problem

I used the VXDIAG VCX NANO FOR TOYOTA connector/USB cable. With this VXDiag connector/cable, I was able to write (register) the new TPMS ID's into the LS460 ECM. I was able only to read the TPMS ID's with the cheap USB VCI connectors on eBay and Amazon but was not able to write (register) the TPMS ID's into the ECM.

if you replace them when you replace your tires they won’t charge labor on the tires that are being replaced so that would be a bigger savings

you would think so, but not at Costco.

in fact, I was so dumbfounded I actually called another Costco and they confirmed they’ll charge twice.

one installation fee $80 for tires
one programming fee $70

This seems a great way to get OEM longevity for less money. Great info.

all the sensors are $61 each installed and programmed. they wouldn't replace my spare tire because it is original never used and 15 years old. so now I need to buy a new tire for a spare so I can get my 5th sensor
