Hello guys ,
I have seen threads about transmission issues but wanted some feedback on my isssue .

my transmission started blipping in the 3-4 gear change.
I changed the fluid : continued
changed the filter : continued
flush : continued
Through this process the blips became worse and even had problems in 4-5 or 5-6 can’t remember right now and reverse .
when I did my research I come to find out these three gears are on the same clutch pack and share a solenoid .

changed the solenoid : continued
ended up finding a used transmission and it worked fine the first few days and blip returned .
so I suspected the transmission ect.
when I checked it after the car cooling for over an hour it was scorching hot, after I disconnected for 1 minute it cooled .
When completely cold it will sometimes work fine .

I have ordered a used one to test.
questions :
1: anyone ever had this issue ?
2: does this ect need programming ?
3: are they specific to different models I.e. Long / awd / rwd ?

 

As a suggestion, I would make sure the fluid is running freely to the tranny rad cooler and return.

 

II know it has pressure to cooler since I flushed it with that line .
also it’s weird that the issue would only be only on one gear set.
same problem on both transmissions .

 

I don't know why both tranny's would overheat. Are you sure the return line is free back to the tranny.

 

Try shifting manually and see if it still flares. I’m dealing with an occasional 1-2 shift flare and it won’t do it when I shift manually

 

It’s the control module ( transmission computer ) that overheats which is located in the engine compartment,

 

Have you tried changing the module instead of whole transmission?

 

What mileage did this happen at? And was the transmission fluid really dirty?

 

I was doing that but I would like a normal driving car so I’m chasing this one till it dies !

 

Yes I did change out the etc and the problem continued.
but funny thing I took it to an independent shop suspecting software to be the issue but when they diagnosed they found the software to be fine .
they cleared some codes and recommended I change the balance body or the transmission.
since I left the shop the transmission has been shifting fine .

 

Balance body? Surely you meant to type valve body.

 

Whats the update is your car running fine now ?

 

The 3-4 flare is normal when cold. I think it might be due to oil draining out of the 4th gear apply piston or accumulator, causing it to delay engagement until it primes.

 

It was running fine but the flare started up again . I’m suspecting a speed sensor that showed up on a scan .

 

do you solve the problem i have same issue reverse and 3 to 4th slip to then engage i have replaced the transmission and still same problem also replace the tcm nothing change
