down shifting problem

down shifting problem
Hello friends, lately I encounter the folowing fenomina: Coastin at 50mph in high gear and low (1200) rpm I whant to accelerate a bit, say to 55mph, so I apply a very light pressure on the throttel pedal. At this situation the engine stutters and trembles as if he was begging me to down shift to a lower gear, something he should do by his own. when I increase the pressure on the pedal, down shifting is carried out and the engine revs propperly.
Could somebody have an idea what might coase this problem? Thanks.
