Hello all, I'm having issues with TPMS programming on my 08 LS600. Garage that did my enhanced inspection got readings from all 4 tires but didn't check the spare. ID 5 is the one not communicating. I used Techstream to get all of the TPMS IDs. I then played around with pressures in each tire to understand which ID correlated with each tire. I was able to see the pressure drop in all 4 tires at the corners. I got a new Denso 550-0103 sensor and put it into the spare. Now, what is strange is that the old sensor ID (7 digit code) in the spare that was removed correlated to ID1, which went down in pressure when the front left tire air was released.
I'm assuming that "Registered ID 1 Code" should correlate to "ID 1 Tire Inflation Pressure"? If so, how is the removed sensor still showing as ID 1 and showing pressure changes?
My other issue is that when attempting to program through TechStream, I can input the IDs but I get an error when attempting to write. See the photo. I tried jumpering TC and GC with no change.
Any suggestions on what to try next? I called 2 tire shops and 1 doesn't have a programmer and the other did not have Denso on their system. I will try a large chain store next as they said they may be able to program. Toyota dealer wants $100 to program the sensor. I'm annoyed with the dash lights but its not worth removing for $100.
Well, PepBoys pulled through and got it resolved for $17. I'm still not sure why I was unable to edit with techstream. I also had the old sensor in my pocket and apparently it was still reading because while driving, it would change the pressure to 1psi periodically. I got home took it out of my pocket and drove and all pressures displayed correctly. Maybe that one was ok but just needed programmed. Not sure. No worries as that headache and annoying light is now off the dash.

The old sensor was still programmed to the car even though it was removed. I had the same error when trying to program a sensor and pepboys got it done for me too. I believe the error has more to do with the firmware on the cable that your using since it's most likely v1.4.1.
Correct. The cable is the issue. You either need the updated chinese cable which are impossible to find, or the real deal Mongoose cable. Benefit of the Mongoose cable even though it is more expensive is real time datalogging.
Other than the $500 mongoose cable and the cheap Amazon cable I have, is there something middle of the road that has been proven to work? There has to be a cable out there with the newer 2.0 version of firmware.

If all you are doing is TPMS you should be able to use one of those cheap handheld readers in amazon.
The other option is finding an actual Toyota VXDiag adapter on eBay.
