Finally DRL/ high beam solution is here... really
In fact, I replaced every possible bulb on this car with LED inside and out. Everything was well under 80 bucks.
I just replaced my high beam halogen bulbs with some LED's off ebay for 20 bucks. DRL's work fine, highbeams work fine. Not sure why you would need to spend that much.

Still waiting on my Morimoto 3.0 bulbs to complete this mod (back ordered at the (retrofitsource.com). Received the GTR modules though. Once I received and installed I will post the results.
Thanks man for taking the plunge, I just have other priorities at the moment so looking forward to see yours.

Hey James,
From our experience we have people trying to use them on LEXUS, Subaru, and Honda DRL /High Beam application, all having issues with flickering in the DRL mode.
We are working on a module that should be available in the next few months, but for right now they do not function correctly in that location!

Even the new 2stroke 3.0?
From the Morimoto website:
DRL DRIVE: The LED Driver is configured to accept a wide range of input voltage, making them compatible with low voltage daytime running lights commonly found on modern vehicles. When the LED driver detects 6-9V of input: The system logic automatically switches to produce just 30% of the standard output. The low power drive rate of 250mA produces only 460lm per emitter and enables the 2Stroke 3.0 to produce a suitably low output volume as a daytime running light. In this mode, the cooling fan also shuts off to conserve power/lifespan. For vehicles with a PWM-based DRL signal, an inline PWM module that produces a clean DC6V will be required. The driver is completely potted, making it completely weather-proof. Note that the DRL-Drive function is only for use in non-US markets.

Hey James,
Thanks for the email!
Unfortunately our 2Strokes will not work in any High Beam/DRL bulb setting. It can only operate at 12V and not any lower.
Thanks again,

Message: I have a 2007 Lexus LS460 that utilizes PWM for the high beams/DRLs. I am very interested in your 9005 2stroke 3.0 LEDs so the car can operate the lights the same way as with the factory halogens. Which PWM module do you recommend to work properly with your 3.0 LEDs?
Many thanks, James

I have been wanting to have my High Beams/DRLs operating properly as with the factory halogens, and I've been researching since I've owned my 460 nearly two years now. I contacted Xenon Depot and they could recommend anything they had. Recently received the following from Morimoto. Sorry brother to bring this to your attention but felt I had to let you know before you installed anything.

And therein lie the questions: Is Morimoto waiting to have their own PWM module to market and pair with their 3.0s? Or perhaps vice versa for the GTR Pro PWM module and their own 9005 LEDs? The Product Details for the GTR module states, "Prevents bulb out warnings or flickering." It sure would be nice to know that the GTR/Morimoto combo was physically installed and tested with 100% proper operation of the high beams/DRLs on our 460s before dropping $225, not to mention the time & labor to install. Wouldn't you want this too?

Good information. I have the GTR module which is to smoothen out the signal and provide anti flicker operation. I am still waiting on my Morimoto 3.0 bulbs to complete this. From the info you provided seems that Morimoto is redesigning the 3.0 bulb. ???.
I have been waiting for my bulbs well over 1 month now.

So I'm looking forward to the 3.0s possibly allowing the high beams/DRLs to function in our 460s like the factory halogens. My original headlight lenses are beyond repair, and sanding/polishing cannot bring them back. However, after searching for several months on ebay last year, I was able to buy some replacement units and am just waiting to figure out what I'm going to do for the 9005 bulbs. I've already wet sanded and polished the lenses, then will clear coat them just prior to installation. A couple weeks ago I was experimenting with the swoosh lenses and possibly wiring them to act as DRLs; however, it appears on the earlier years at least, that swoosh lens really diffuses the brightness. Here's a short vid of one of my experiments:
Not sure what's going on with the 3.0s being backordered, maybe because they're new, I don't know. I think they may be trying to come up with an across the board solution to the PWM/high beam-DRL function in various vehicles, perhaps without being manufacturer/model specific. The 2.0s have a pretty good track record. I've used them in some of my past vehicles and have also used them to rebuild/update entire headlight units.

So after seven weeks I finally received the Morimoto 3.0 bulbs. FAILED!! . I installed them along with the GTR module and the flicker is unbearable. After running for a few minutes both bulbs completely shut down. I checked all connections still would not fire back up. Reinstalled the original bulbs and still no lights, seem to be blown fuses. I will continue to troubleshoot the issue.
I plan to return everything. I will be in touch with theretrofitsource.com on Monday to discuss this. Good thing they are about 35 miles from me, so I can just drive down there to them.
I will recheck everything tomorrow and give another feedback.
Seem like this setup may not work for us.
