Default Radio problems

Hello everyone, I have a 2008 Lexus LS460 RWD, there are random times when I turn my vehicle on that my radio has no sound what so ever coming out. When I turn it off and on my passenger side dashboard speaker crackles or pops and I get nothing no matter what source it is on. Other times I turn it on and it works fine, but there are times when the speakers sound louder then other times. The last 3 days it has not worked at all. This is the longest stretch it has not worked, I dont know if it's because of the cold weather or what. I'm afraid of changing the speaker or radio and it still not working. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Lexus said they can replace a part to see if it works that may cost $2,000 but can't promise it will fix it but it would be the first step to see. Looking to get any help I can to enjoy my vehicle but don't want to dish out so much money with no guarantee.

If you have the Mark levinson sound system the likely cause is a defective amplifier. There are places that can test and repair the amplifier. The cost to repair them is around $400. A quick google search should give you a few options to ship the amp in. I used a place in California.

The amp is located in the trunk.

If you have the mark levinson option your stereo will have the words mark levinson on it, so will your speakers.

It sounds like you don't have the mark levinson. In this case I would replace your amp with a used one.
Ebay has many used options. I would select the cheapest one within the us that offers at least a 30 day return. A quick search turned up this one. I'm sure there are less expensive sellers too.
