Default Front tag

Does anyone else’s front tag fit like this? No where to bolt in the bottom two bolts. I’m using the stock bracket that cane with the car.

If the plate screws are long enough, try some washers or spacers on the back side of the plate. It may help from pulling in the plate when you tighten the screws, thus eliminating/reducing the curve of the plate. I'm assuming that's the main issue?

It looks like the thick chrome dealer advertisement frame causes the curve when the screws are tightened. I'd lose the dealer advertisement frame - unless they're paying you to advertise - and either go without a frame or use a simple one that's less noticeable and doesn't cover information on the plate. I have silicon Rightcar Solutions frames on all our plates. They cover the sharp edges, are also backers and keep the plates from rattling and scarring vehicle paint. Kind of expensive but nice - available on Amazon. I use only stainless steel button head hex screws to attach license plates since they are next to impossible to remove with pliers and I doubt that many license plate thieves carry Allen wrenches. Of course there are probably no plate thieves in New Jersey like there are where I live.

My front plate mounting bracket is different than the OP's. It is slightly bigger than the plate itself and does not overlap the bumper cover at its top. As SW17LS said, there are no lower holes to which the plate can be affixed.

Curve is not the issue. My tags came like that from the DMV brand new (sigh). I just don't want it flopping around. I tightened the top bolts even more and it seemed to fix the problem pretty much

Plate thieves? Who/why are those being stolen on a regular basis?!

Google "why are license plates stolen" and you will find lots of information on why it's done. It's quite common in the U.S. and other countries.

I drove off license plate thieves several times when I worked in downtown Kansas City Missouri. One time I waited around for a few minutes after driving off a guy who was stealing a plate from a car in a parking lot I was walking by and he returned a few minutes later to continue. l drove him off again but I don't know if he returned since I had to get to my workplace. I was a lot younger then and apparently thought I was "bullet proof". I wouldn't risk confronting someone today over something so trivial.

Interesting stuff. Despite living right by America's Murder Capital (AKA Chicago) stealing plates isn't really a thing around here. I could guess the reasons but it's not relevant to this post.

I was in the 7th grade when the police came to our door. ID'ed Dad and asked
to see his car. Seams that someone knelt down in front of his Plymouth Duster
(old story, remember?) and swapped his front plate onto the back of the car they
were stealing. Apparently went out and committed crimes and Dad's plate was
right in the thick of it. Running gag ever after was that the cops were onto him!
