Changing topics on you all bit here. I was messing around in fuelly, and just noticed that the last time I put gas in the LS was on 5/31. That's been a few days!
I'm saving MEEEEELIONS not having to get gas as much. The counter point to that is, I'm turning into a zombie as I have been cowering for months in fear of my life, down in the basement of my home. I wonder what the surface looks like now. Gonna have to use a bushhog to cut my yard. OK, Ok, ok … I exaggerate. The LS's low fuel light came on last time I drove it, and I've been scooting around town on my Burgman as much as I can. At 49 ± 3 mpg, I ride the scooter every chance I get. It's fun and saves me MEEEEELIONS! Yes, I'm a big goof ball. I know I save very little, but the scooter is fun and easy.
I've got a Honda Rebel 250 that I like very much too. I'm into the micro-bike's at the moment. It gets 64 ± 4 mpg. But I can't carry around anything on the Rebel. The Burgman can hold stuff under the seat and it has a trunk box too. The Burgman is the Ford Raptor of 2 wheelers. Sports around with its 55 horsepower, and can carry a good amount of stuff too. The Rebel has like 17 hp! Hehehehe. But is a fun little sickle.
The lack of LS usage is mainly due to working from home due to covid. Has anyone else noticed a decent decline in their fuel usage?
Looking at my Roadtrip app, I drove ~ 375 miles from March 17 - June 17 (and probably 75 of that was one long roundtrip). I dumped a little Seafoam into the tank during that time to stabilize the fuel.
Is that all? Did you drive any other vehicles? Talk about the bottom dropping off of demand. Sure, lots of cars and trucks still going. But lots are not.
I've been working from home for about 2 and 1/2 months now... and will be for another 3-4 weeks. My drive to the office is about an hour, so filling up the tank would be normally every 3-4 days. Being stuck at home, I DO try to find reasons to go someplace to just get out of the house, 2-3 times a week I do this.
My tank lasts about 2-3 weeks now days... Saves on the bills for sure... and the cost of gas has dropped, so even when I fill up, it's 25-30% less than it was when I stopped working in the office. I am sure this will change as more people start going back but, it's nice for now..
Same here. I work from home 100% of the time since Covid. I have probably used one tank of gas since mid-March. I only go to the liquor store or grocery store. I have driven my car around the block just to get things moving. I will not be in the market for a new car any time soon.
I've worked from home for 24 years. I think I've told this story already, but here it is again. I filled my car in January. In mid February I took my car in for a recall of the SOS system. They filled my tank with only 5 gallons. I didn't need to refill until June. I start the car ever so often and drive around the neighborhood. Occasionally I actually put 15 to 20 miles on it. It just turned 38,000 miles last week.
I was working from home most of the time, but running my daughter around to track meets and practices was using up some gas.
Since March, I haven't gone far. I washed the car yesterday and used it to go to Atlantic City, which has certainly upped my mileage for the month. Still under 1,000 miles so far this year.
I just had to stay home for 5 days, someone I live with was suspected of having covid, so I had to go get tested and wait for results which were negative. My country (Australia) has now opened up most of its borders, so I can now go for a decent drive.
I drove the LS in to "work" today. I say "work" because with the pandemic, things barely move. My drive to work is a whopping commute of 3.4 or 3.7 miles. The fuel level is very low now, and the light is on. I think it said it has about 370 miles on this tank. I might have to juice it up today, with dinosaur juice. Grab a flask, sit it on the ground in front of your feet. Pick-up a dinosaur and hold him over the flask, and wring him out like wringing out a wet rag. Tell him, "aaaaa shat ap" like Yosemite Sam, if he growls about it. Take flask, pour into fuel tank. The harder you wring him out, the higher the octane. I've got a warped sense of humor sense I watched so many cartoons as a kid.
So I was driving a lot less, but that didn't last and now I'm back to driving probably 75% as much as I normally do. Big difference is I only go into my physical office which us 17 miles each way once or twice a week, otherwise I work from home. Still driving between clients and taking trips though.
I had been driving the Pacifica half the time too to keep it running since my wife wasn't driving, but she's back to driving maybe 40% of normal so I don't bother.
