Alternator socket loom
Can anyone help me out with what wire does what? My plug broke and my new plug just arrived and I have zero clue the orientation, any help would be appreciated.

One of green wires is connected to a 10A alternator fuse. You will have continuity from the fuse box when to connected to the fuse to one of green the alternator wires. Also, the same wire will be powered when ignition is on. Do not shorten wires.

 

What would happen if I have the green wires in the wrong spot
sould everything still work properly

 

how did it turn out? how did you determine which green wire was what green wire?

 

One of green wires is connected to E/G RM-IG1-1 located in the right fuse box of the engine compartment. You should be able to probe for continuity from the fuse box all the way to the alternator plug. That green wire is #2.

 

Found it ordered a new plug, did you splice wires or remove pins from new one and reuse connectors?

LS460 isn't listed but after going to pic n pull to confirm off a same year Camry it worked. .

After consulting with a couple mechanic clients I spliced wires by soldering them then using heat shrink tubing as well as high temp electrical tape.

 

I know, it is too late but I usually re-use pins unless it is damaged.

 

Now I am getting the power steering light and steering wheel hard to move. Anyone else experience this?

Where did you get your after market plug from? My power steering is failing now and I read on forums it's a problem of not enough power to steering pump. I wonder if the after market plug on alternator was no good.
