Default Transmission Downshift from at 40-50...

This is my first LS, I have a 2008 LS-460 and I don't know how the acceleration should be, I can say this though....

I was driving around 40-50 on the freeway and I wanted to get over into the lane on the right on the highway and so I pushed the accelerator all the way down and the transmission did not downshift and the car did not go fast enough and I came close to getting rear ended.

Driving between 40-50 in non-pwr mode, is this normal ?

It has happened to me from time to time at different speeds. You can't just mash the pedal when it... It being the transmission think it's just cruising loll it's a bit slow... You either need to put it in sport or power when you want to do those things I'm only just getting used to doing that. I think that's the proper way to do it... Just the pedal is for gradual acceleration it not going to do what you want sometimes
