2010 LS 600h L Purchase
Since reading riknchar's detailed posts 2 years ago about his buying a 2010 LS 600h L, I have kept my eye on the LS hybrid market. During that time, no other 600 (or 460 for that matter) aroused the same interest as his car. Although not a particular fan of green, it's rare Peridot Mica color was of a hue similar to that of my favorite car owned back in the day (a Verdoro Green 1968 Pontiac GTO) and so was an attraction. Being offset by a contrasting Parchment interior added to its appeal as did its Executive Class Seating Package option.
It was only natural then that I got in touch with riknchar when he recently suggested that he was considering a vehicle change. It did not take long to reach a purchase agreement, clinched by the fact that his CNA exclusionary warranty was transferable. It runs until May 2024 and for another 33,000 miles, a distance I won't come close to covering in that time. I couldn't be happier!
We agreed on a deal on March 8 and then Covid-19 intervened. My original thought to fly in and drive home suddenly seemed like a bad idea. Later, the back-up plan to rent a car one way went by the boards. Finally, I hired an auto transport company (alert - this is a misnomer, it's really just a shipping broker) and the car was picked up today for delivery hopefully tomorrow. Surprisingly, enclosed transport was only an extra $100 for the 800 mile trip. Throughout this entire process riknchar has been unfailingly courteous and easy to work with. I can't thank him enough!
The only unfortunate aspect of the transaction is the unlikelihood that my 2006 LS 430 will sell any time soon given the trajectory of the economy. Well, there is another issue - Ohio's licensing agency was shuttered last week, so plates cannot be bought. As a result, the 600 will just have to stay parked in the garage for a while.

TriC: It's been a pleasure working with you on this deal, and I'm so happy that a fellow Lexus enthusiast will be enjoying my "Lexicorn" while I "experiment" with my 2020 Tesla Model S. I will always be a huge fan of the LS600hLs, and only time will tell if I remain satisfied with my Tesla or come running back in the hunt for another LS600hL! I will definitely miss the luxurious interior appointments of my Lexus, along with the road isolation, refinement and over-engineered quality throughout the car.
I know that our Nebraska DMV has shut down face-to-face operations, but documents can still be mailed in and license plates can be issued that way (though I'm sure there will be delays).
I'm curious about your LS430. My son has been interested in getting one of those for a while. What's the story with yours? How much would you be selling it for? Maybe I should have driven my LS600hL to you and drove home in your LS430?

I acquired the '06 LS 430 in January 2018 from the original owner. It came with all of its original paperwork (window sticker, purchase contract, etc.) It had been regularly serviced by the dealer and has always been garaged. It has an accident/damage free history. I've had the timing belt changed and added chrome 5 spoke wheels (and still have the original hyper-silver 5 spokes). It shows minimal wear for its age and mileage. It now has just under 65,000 miles and should sell in the range of $12,000 to $13,000 - or at least it would in normal times!

TriC, congratulations. You will love how quiet, smooth and powerful the ride is. Rick of course is personally responsible for our LS600HL adventure and everyday I am so glad he inspired me to get one as it really is the pinnacle of Toyota engineering.
As you may know, our 2UR-FSE is the powertrain Toyota put in the new 3rd generation Toyota Century in 2018 to replace their only V12, the 1GZ-FE. The Toyota Century is handmade, only available in Japan, is Toyota's $180,000 limousine competitor to Rolls Royce and used by the Imperial House of Japan. So even though the LS600HL has been discontinued, Toyota had enough confidence in the powertrain to put it in their new flagship car.

Thanks to all for the kind words!
The car was delivered on time this afternoon safe and sound. I want to give a shout-out to Montway Auto Transport for their service. They adhered to both the stated schedule and the quoted price. This second aspect was particularly notable because apparently the driver (an independent contractor) wanted more than Montway expected. Rather than jack my price, they reduced their share of the cut as broker of the transaction. The price for enclosed transport of 800 miles from Omaha, NE, to Columbus, OH, was $779.
