I've been on the forum for awhile. I've owned...
2002 GS300
2007 GS350
2008 ISF
Another 08 ISF
2014 GS350
2016 RX350 F-Sport
2005 LS430 UL
And now a 2011 LS460 L
I'm selling the RX if anyone is interested. 2016 with 72k on it. Almost perfect condition. Bought it from the original owner and services done at Lexus.
This 460L is by far the most robust, smooth, solid, luxury car I have owned. I started a thread a year or so ago comparing the 430 vs 460. Found a good deal on a 430 with 70k miles. Something just wasn't right with the car, all my GS's were smoother. In my humble opinion, the LS460 is overall a better car than the 430, but it could have just been my poor experience with my 430. But even if the 430 drove well, it's just so outdated. Especially the interior.
I was comparing a couple 2008 LS460's that were around 125k miles and $12-$13.5. But after reading that the 2010+ had less issues than the 07-09 I decided to buy the higher mileage 2011.
I ended up paying $11,000 for this 460L. It has 140,000 miles which are high. But I plan on actually holding onto this one and doing the maintenance when needed. My wife has 3 years of nursing school and my plan is for this LS to at least make it through that. After my bad experience with the air suspension on the 430 I specifically wanted a 460 without the air suspension. But I also really wanted the long wheel base. I bought it from the original owner who has all service records through Lexus.
Couple issues that I will be working on...
Driver side window goes down halfway then stops. Then won't move at all. After a minute or two you can then put it up. Frustrating. (IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS LET ME KNOW!)
Brakes pulsate a little so I'll be replacing the rotors.
Rock chip right in my dang line of vision. New windshield.
And the AFS light is on. Which I personally don't care for. I don't need the headlights to follow the road. But I'll figure out how to fix it.
Other than that it drives fantastic which is what I was most concerned about. I can fix the other small issues. Can't wait to put some new pirelli's on it. It's on the stock suspension so I'll save up for new control arms and struts. My goal is to get it to 300,000 miles and then buy a 2015+ LS.
I had almost same car and immensely enjoyed it for the time I had it before it got totaled 3 months ago. I will be getting a 2013+ LS460L soon.
I like my LS430 though. It seems more nimble compared to LS460L. Totally agree on the outdated part. Haha. It now falls under classic.

Congrats on your new purchase. You have put a lot of thought into this decision, and I think you will be well-rewarded with an excellent driving experience!
The car seems to be in great condition for a high mileage vehicle. It's nice to see that it has radar cruise control. I use DRCC on long interstate drives, and I hope you will also enjoy using this feature.

That's no good about your 2011 but at least you get to upgrade to a newer one! And I'm not hating the 430. I'm sure I had a very rare instance where my 430 wasn't in good mechanical condition because it's clear that most owners absolutely love them. I've thought about buying one with high miles for cheap if it's taken care of religiously. Could be a nice 3rd car to have as a backup.
I found a 2014 for $19k but it had 160k on it. That's too steep for me. I'll get one in a couple years. I enjoy the research and then hunt to find that "perfect" car. This will give me a couple years to find my next dream car. But until then I'll enjoy this 460L.

Thanks! I enjoy the radar cruise until someone cuts in front of me and my car brakes harder than it needs to.
The windshield chip may be covered with no deductible/copay by your auto insurance if it creates a driving hazard. Look into it and save yourself $1000+ for a whole new OEM windshield. Nice car. Miss mine except in San Diego most parking spaces are too narrow.

That would be awesome if insurance did cover it! Save me some money. It is huge. Luckily I'm not in the city too often.
Congrats! That is a sweet looking 460. If you've checked the history of maintenance and know what's ahead, you should have an easy 300k or more of driving pleasure. Enjoy!!

Driving it back home from St Louis it drives great. Brakes pulsate and that drives me crazy. I'm definitely putting new rotors on it when I get home. I'll do my research on the forum but do any of you recommend any brand over OEM?
