I thought there was a tiny airbag inside the active headrest restraint system that causes it to pop out to avoid whiplash. But, it seems to be a spring mechanism (at least in some cars) that could be reset by the owner.
I hope you get your problem fixed. So your driver side headrest was deployed and pop out? If the headrest pop out (in some vehicles) you might be able to pop it back in. The front headrests are adjustable but the driver side deployed? I've never heard or read of any LS headrest deploying.

This is not a typical repair situation that people will know how to fix. You can search for youtube videos showing how to pop back the deployed headrest (I saw ones for Mercedes and Dodge). Considering it is a safety device, I would take the car in to the dealer to get the deployed headrest checked for any damage, and reset to its stowed position.

It is stated in 2016 LS manual to have dealer replaced the headrest if it is deployed during a crash.
Wonder how it would get deployed without an impact. Can you please post a picture?
In case anyone is wondering, the headrest is secured with clips and will pull out, which is most likely what happened here. It should be able to just jam back in.
If not you may have lost a clip. Reach under the rear of the seat and peel the hem back where the molded plastic clips around and lift the flap up. 2 screws hold the seat back plate, bottom edge on. Remove them, pull out slightly to clear plastic at seat side edges, and pull back plate down (clips up top holding it on). Hitch pin clip style things in pic below hold the headrest in
