Just looking for one that will keep my battery fully charged when I don’t drive the car for 5-6 days. I had a Black & Decker I found on Amazon but it quit working after 3 years of use. I’d like to get one that’s higher quality.

 

The aptly named Battery Tender is great. I've had one for probably 15 years. I've used it in everything in my garage.

Question though: Does your battery drain down in that short timeframe?

Not at all. But I like to keep the battery fully charged because my Jaguar XJ L had the habit of throwing all kinds of codes and check engine lights when the battery was even slightly drained. Using the battery tender on a regular basis, the current battery was purchased in 2014 and when it was load tested in October tested ok.

 

My buddy picked one of these CTEK (56-958) MUS 4.3 POLAR 12 Volt Fully Automatic Extreme Climate 8 Step Battery Charger units up. He said that when he was over for his BMW Euro delivery, BMW was using CTEK units in the pick-up area. (I recall he said they were "BMW" branded though.)

I have the older Battery Tender Jr. and have had it for about 16 years.

 

I have both the Battery Tender Waterproof (9yrs) & the Battery Tender 5amp.. (5yrs) both are great maintainers but the 5amp has a faster recharge rate... Zero issues ever... Peace of mind.. never having a dead batt on my Ls which I rarely drove these days.

 

CTEK 7002. It may a tad overkill for your stated purpose, but down the road you may find its functions very useful.

I trickle charge a lot of stuff (multiple boat batteries, racecar batteries) and had problems with two battery tender chargers.

I've switched to the NOCO Genius chargers and love 'em. They've got some added smarts on charging, not overcharging, restoration cycles and foolproofing I like. Have two of them.

A healthy battery doesnt need one just unplug the black cable is you dont plan to use.

 

I had a Porsche 911 GTS (sold) so I used CTEK MXS 5.0 battery tender, it charges and maintain charge without overcharging, never had a problem with it and my car was a garage queen.
