Lightbulb Dash rubs against windshield?

My new-to-me is pretty rattle and noise free. One issue that is pretty constant and annoying though is the dash rubbing up against the windshield over bumps. Is this a common thing? Anyone with experience on fixing it?

I had this on my INFINITI and just put a couple of drops of oil (sewing machine, gun) right on the place the noise was coming from and it as permanently gone. Used one of these to get to it.

I've got the same issue with my new-to-me car, does this work? Any other options?

If lubing the meeting point of the dash and windshield is what works, I was going to do a dry lube like graphite or something (no smell, doesn't dry or get tacky). If that doesn't work... Triflow? Gotta live with whatever smell I use LOL.

There was a thread awhile ago where the guy bought some felt from a craft store and pushed it down between the dash and windshield with a plastic body trim tool. Got rid of the noise. Several others did the same thing with good results.

Do you know if the windshield was replaced by the previous owner? It could be that the replacement was not properly positioned.

I'm pretty sure it's OEM.

The reason I asked is we have had 2 windshields replaced on my wife's 2001 Jag S-Type. After the second replacement the wiper arm was rubbing against the back edge of the hood. For some time I couldn't figure out what the cause was. I changed the wiper blades and later the wiper arms to no avail. I later discovered that the installer put too much of a bead around the frame and caused the windshield to rise up further than it should.

Right.
I'm not positive what the case is. Seems I'm not alone on it though. I'm looking for the post about someone putting felt there, but not finding it. We'll see how irritating it gets. LOL

After my dash was replaced mine squeaked at times on and off. Think the temp made the difference too hot or cold. Until i installed my dash cam and ran the power cord along trim and it ran along the drivers side corner. Since than no more noise.

I agree with williamb82--if you can see exactly where the squeak is coming from push some felt (without adhesive) down there. As much as I like the smell of Tri-Flow, I don't think I'd want to smell it all the time.

Spray some silicone along the joint. That's what the dealers do.

DO NOT USE OIL (or WD40)!!!
