Default Deal or No Deal

Been a lurker for a while now and really trust the opinions of many here. I'm looking to get into my first LS 460.
Rented a 2008 LS 460 through Turo for a week as a test. What a ride even on an 12 year old car.

Now driving my 2013 Avalon Limited just doesn't cut it anymore and it's time for a change.

2011 LS 460L 97k miles
Adap. Variable Susp./Variable Gear Ratio Steering
19" 5-Spoke Aluminum Alloy Wheels with 245/45R19 All-Season Tires
Luxury Package: Semi-Aniline Leather Trimmed Interior & Ecsaine Headliner, Pwr Rr-Door Sunshade
Mark Levinson Audio/DVD Changer: Reference Surround Sound Audio Sys w/19-Spks 7.1 Channel Architecture, DVD/CD Chgr w/Audio & Video Playback
Advanced Parking Guidance System
Pre-Collision Sys & Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Good maintenance history. Only mechanical issue was the water pump replaced at 35K miles.

From a Lexus dealer. Asking $22900.

My only concern is the Air Suspension.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Phil

Welcome to the site!

Whats your budget for repairs? The air suspension is great, but as they get older they get expensive to repair....

Well, as usual, the budget is as little as possible.
$800 ish dollars for new oem from UAE (based on some threads I've read) would be doable.

I don't have a specific budget for repairs, but have enough savinsg to tap into if repairs need to be made.

The dealer says Lexus warranties (service contracts) can be purchased which might mitigate some of the worry.

I would say you should have $2,500-$3,000 available for repairs.

No deal. Look at a few of the recent posts. Your purchase budget is nearing a price of a 2013. Rough it a bit in your Avalon and get a 2013 LS460

I keep telling myself that too JLAW. As many on this forum have said in other similar threads, be patient.

I am off the last couple weeks of the year. I'm hoping at that time some dealership will desperately need to dump the used stock they have. Just having a hard time finding my unicorn.

White exterior, black or darker interior, no air, ML, BLM, RCTA. Any other tech I could care less. . Simple requests. All the white ones I find are F Sport. Actually lots of F Sport for a few g's more than the $22900 for this 2011. Just really don't want an f sport.

Patience is a virtue, it's not my strong suit.

Thank for the input.

Lexus cars seem to be a lot cheaper in Texas than the rest of the country. I guess most folks there buy "Murican" .. and pick up trucks.
It's been 2 months in after selling my perfect LS460 and I am suffering SEVERE withdrawal symptoms. I am trying to hold off for what I want but it has been very tough. Sometime I wished that I never sold it. Pretty soon we'll see 2013s in the low $20K on the regular now that the LS500 has been out a while.

There are a TON of white LSs out there, but almost all of them have the parchment interior, unless they're F Sports.

Just though I'd provide an update.

All my research brought me to the conclusion that it was not yet time for me to continue my search for my LS unicorn.

I still like a spirited drive and an not quite ready to give that up. Maybe in another 5 to 10 years as I hit my 60's, but not just yet.

I opted to get something in between my 2013 Avalon Limited and the LS 460 I will definitely want in the future.

I am now the proud owner of my entry into the Lexus club. Today i took possession of a CPO 2014 GS 350 with Luxury Package and ML sound system.
Although nothing like the LS I rented last week, it is a much nicer and more luxurious ride than the 2013 Toyota Avalon Limited that I traded in.

Thanks again to those who responded to my queries.

Congratulations, the GS is a nice ride! In the future, I wouldn't worry so much about the air suspension, I love mine on my 2010. Hope you have good luck in your new GS!
