Default Just Bought: 2013 LS 460 SWB

I spent a lot of time looking and finally rolled the dice with Manheim Milwaukee today. I picked up a 2013 LS460 SWB with the following options:

AS Adaptive Variable Air Suspension w/Variable Gear Ratio Steering, Comfort & SportS+ Drive Modes
BM Blind Spot Monitor w/Rear Cross Traffic Alert
D5 Door Edge Guards
FY 19" split-seven-spoke alloy wheels with high- gloss finish and all-season tires
IL LED Headlamps w/intelligent high-beams & washers
IR Shimamoku Espresso Ebony Wood
LU Semi-Aniline Leather Trim Interior and Alcantara Headliner Upgrade
ML Mark Levinson 19-spkr w/Single DVD/CD player
UL Ultra Luxury Package: Climate-comfort front and outboard rear seats, 4-zone climate control, incl: rear overhead ducts, Climate Concierge, Pwr rr & rr-door sunshades, Pwr-adjustable outboard rr seats w/memory, 2-way pwr lumbar support & lumbar massage, Pwr-adjustable outboard rear butterfly headrests, Wood-trimmed climate & audio ctrls in rear-center armrest, Rr-seat air purifier /cool box & rr seat-mounted side airbags (SRS), Power trunk open/close
WT Heated Wood Steering Wheel w/Leather Center Pad
Z1 Accy Pkg: Trunk Mat, Cargo Net & Wheel Locks

Out the door at the auction for $18,900. It does have 130k miles but the maintenance history online is every 5k all the way through and it just got brakes 2000 miles ago. For a car I intend to put a lot of road miles on, I'm hoping it fits the bill at a budget price. Now I just have to fly up to Milwaukee and get it next week. Wish me luck!

Good looking car, love that interior color scheme. Congrats!!

Had any of the air struts already been replaced when you looked at service history? If not, stick aside some cash and expect to replace at least one of them within the next 30k miles or so. Otherwise drive and enjoy

No, no air suspension repair anywhere in the service history. I was really sketchy about the air suspension but I'm hoping that the 2013+ cars have a better track record with it. What I do know from reading here though is that if it goes bad, the Lexus dealer won't be the one fixing it.

Great color combo! Still plenty of life left in that car! Just curious as to what the average % markup is on used Lexus from auctions. I would have thought a 2013 would sell for less than $18,900 at auction with that many miles because it seems that many 2013's can now be had for right around $29-30K RETAIL with a lot less miles. Not saying you didn't get a good deal....I have no idea to be honest. I'm just strictly wondering from a consumer standpoint having never been to one of these auctions.

MMR on it was $23,100 and that was with the $4500 deduct for miles. I started at 18 and it bumped to $18,900 which was actually my drop-dead line. The margins on the 2013-2105 cars are surprisingly thin from what I'm seeing. Obviously, there are some outliers really trying to cash in but a spread of about $3k seems to be about the average.

The car also had it's transmission oil and differential oil changed at 125k so that's out of the way. What is interesting in looking at these service histories is how they seem to eat brakes. 40-50k miles for brakes seems very excessive. I hated the brakes on my Camry and Avalon and ended up replacing them with cryo-treated rotors and EBC Red pads and that was the end of it. I suspect I'll be doing that here as well.

Wow, and I thought I had the only 2013 SWB Ultra Luxury. Congrats on the new ride! Mine is Flaxen interior too. A little sad to read such low prices for 2013. I was considering trading mine in for a LWB...only thing holding me back is having to give up so many nice creature comforts as most 2013+ LWB listed are bare bones. Enjoy your new car and what an amazing price!

No, that's one thing it doesn't have. Truth be told, I really don't use my cruise control that much. I had the adaptive cruise on my 2014 Avalon Limited and I still never used it all that much. I find it interesting that the Avalon had tech features like that the LS460 doesn't have as well. Wireless phone charging pad and auto high beams. This car has the auto high beams but a lot of them do not. Odd for the flagship car.

I can tell you this for anyone who's looking. There's a 2015 LS460 L with the Executive Seat package, fully loaded with everything but the night vision headed to Connecticut. The car has 81k miles and just need brakes. It went through at 29k. I just wasn't in a position yesterday to get a bid in for it.

If it is at all nice, it likely will be listed at 40K or more.

It's amazing how dealers buy cars long distance at auction!

Interestingly enough, there is a 2009 LS460 L with the ultra-lux package still for sale in Missouri that went through at 11k. They've had it listed as high as 18K. It's dipped as low as 15.5 but I think it's now back to 16.5. Solid looking car with a decent history but it's that sea-green color. I think it's one that you either love or hate. I wasn't a fan.
