Default Replacing Mass Airflow Sensors?

The Dealer wants $1043 to replace them?

How many are on the 460?

I've replaced them on my Porsche and it's a relatively easy job.

How difficult on our LS?

Finally, best place and price to buy replacements?

Thanks for the guidance!

There are two MAF sensors, they're easy to get to. $190ish each from an online discount dealership

What symptoms are your car exhibiting that lead you to believe that the sensors have both failed and need to be replaced? If they are merely dirty, you can try spraying MAF cleaner on them and see if your car shows improvement.

Do them yourself and save a ton of money. Try cleaning them first with MAF cleaner before you spend the money on new ones.

Getting error messages:

Getting the ! Malfunction indicator lamp and the System Warning light with no sound.

Dealer ran diagnostics that pointed to the MAFs.

Was also getting PCS and VSC warnings but those are suspension systems so can't see how they can be related to MAF failure.

Thanks.

Try to get the trouble codes themselves. Are they on your paperwork? Considering the other warnings... maybe something chewed up your wiring harness somewhere.

My Lexus dealer estimated $550 for replacing MAF sensors, when my LS460 was 4 year old with 35k miles. I called Lexus USA and they paid for the parts and I only paid ~$120 for the rest.

Turns out PCS and VSC warnings are also thrown when a Check Engine trouble light appears.

Sprayed them both real good with MAF cleaner. No improvement. Actually runs even rougher after that.

Time to order replacements.

Thanks for the parts link at Longo!

It sometimes runs pretty rough right after you spray them but it should smooth out. How many miles are on your LS, what year?

Turns out I knocked the wiring harness to the throttle body loose when I replaced the MAFs.

Plugged it back in, disconnected the negative connection on the main battery for 5 minutes to reset the brains. Reconnected the battery cable, started it up.

Car went through the diagnostic reboot sequence then smoothed out.

Now running better than ever with noticeable improvement in fuel economy.

MAFs are a maintenance item. If you have over 150K miles on your LS460 consider replacing them. The benefits are significant for not much money.
