07 needs control arms/ struts. Opinions?
Ive had my 07 SWB for about 8 months now and noticed the ride getting a bit bumpier/knocking noises as of late.
I think my control arms and front and rear struts are close to, if not already, shot. (I am a novice on cars, but hope this forum can clue me in.)
I would like to keep my car long term. But how many labor hours should I expect to spend on( I think my guy charges $55/hr) for the following:
1. All 8 front control arms($565) non-OEM on rock auto
2. Front and rear struts($416) edit: they are KYB struts.
Do I need to buy new strut mounts as the ones on rock auto say L option only but mine is a SWB, for around $31/each x 4 brings my parts total to around $1100 plus tax. Thanks in advance.

The Rockauto description is written in an odd way. Those mounts should work on any non air LS460, including the L version. They are nearly identical to OEM and the original OEM struts and mounts were made by KYB.

I was looking at the Moog but only the lower arms are available on Rockauto. For the uppers, the only brand they offer is Mevotech which offers a limited lifetime warranty.
I will ask the tech about his equipment.

Hi Julez, I have a 07 with around 115k miles and still on all original arms and shocks.
Do a forum search on control arms and you can read a lot of good opinions.
And that is my problem, too many opinions with no real consensus of what brand and who to buy from.
However it does seem pretty clear that aftermarket parts and your own idie mechanic will save literally thousands of dollars.
Look like you could replace all the arms and shocks for well under $2000 or so.
some say beckarnley.com is a good source for the parts, others say try autozone given their warranty.....IDK

Thanks for the feedback. I live in a small town now so my options are severely limited. I do trust my local tech as he personally only drives Lexus and is referred to do much of Lexus’ out of warranty repairs.
I haven’t as much got a labor quote yet but was hoping someone who within the past couple of years would post their experience on replacing arms/struts out of warranty.

An indy shop charged $25 a piece for replacing all 8 front control arms of my 2009 LS460.
I replaced all brake pads & rotors at the same time for $50 per corner.
so far so good after 3 years and 53k miles
btw, i bought the CAs from ebay and rockauto, some no-name brand. Moog should be even better.

I won't even take my wife's 16 year old Jeep to the Jeep dealer because they will bend me over; only my local indy guy works on it. No way I'm going to trust a Lexus dealer...
