What's odd is that the sensors in our Jeep are (pretty sure!) direct ones because the vehicle also monitors the spare tire. From what I read, the indirect ones cannot pick up spare tire pressure because it's not "rolling" on the car.
You are correct. I remember swapping the spare one time and it was low on pressure. Didn't have the warning light until the car was moving a few minutes/miles.
