Other companies require the start button to be pressed again once in the vehicle to fully start it and allow it to be driven away. Much better solution.

Apparently the tech behind the door open/RS shut off involves which systems are initialized.
When the key is present inside the car during start up all systems boot up. When the key
is outside the car the engine and HVAC systems engage but not the Nav or Bluetooth portions.
Consider the result if you were within Bluetooth range (30") when the car was running. Your
phone would connect and you would have to quick get to the phones Setup Menu to hear
and speak to your caller.

Press the fob "lock" button three (3) times quickly and hold the third press until you see the outside lights flash.
Press/release/press/release/press/hold There are then three (3) ways to shut it down: 1) wait 10 minutes, if
you get distracted it will not run endlessly, 2) Press and hold the fob "lock" button to shut it off before 10 minutes.
3) Open any door, shuts off so you do not asphyxiate your family while loading up.
So my FOB starts the car cause I subscribe to Lexus Enform. If I stop the subscription, my FOB will no longer work to start the car?

I guess I'll have to try it and see what happens.

jimrd, the fob button press is a bit finicky. You must press the lock button quite quickly and hold the third press until
the cars various marker lights begin to flash on their own. Usual reasons it fails are: not quickly enough and
not holding until the lights flash. The range is published as 80' but I am sure you are learning this function standing
near the car, right? Once you get it you can begin experimenting with discovering the range limitations.

Not for my 2019 ES. I tried it today. It has to be short-short-long or no go.

On the plus side, the remote app was able to reach the car two levels down in a parking garage where my cell phone get's zero bars so that's impressive.

Dear Uncle Monkey, glad that works for you now. The fob start is short range <80' and takes a short time to start the car < 5 seconds.
The phone app start (LER and RES+, with subscription) is longer range, anywhere with cell coverage, and longer time > 20 seconds.
