Default 2007 LS460L - Electrical Issues

I'm new here so I'll try and be brief. Own a 2007 LS460L...we're driving, all the sudden we lose steering (dash lights up like Christmas Tree), pull over, turn off vehicle, restart (seems fine). Same evening, try to start car (completely dead, nothing), jump start vehicle, seems fine no issue. Two days later (early morning) try to start car (completely dead), jump start drives fine get to work (dead again). Jump start, take it to AutoZone both battery and alternator pass and are good. Thoughts / Suggestions?

Post this in the 4th Gen LS forum as you will likely get more responses. Go to Forums --> Lexus Model Forums --> LS --> 4th Gen

I don't ever trust battery testers. I would buy a new battery and see if that solves the problem. I'm betting it will.

It could be bad or loose connection.

Default 2007 LS460L - Electrical Issues

I'm new here so I'll try and be brief. I own a 2007 LS460L...so we're driving and all the sudden we lose steering (dash lights up like Christmas Tree), pull over, turn off vehicle, wait a few minutes & restart (car seems fine). That same evening, try to start car (completely dead, nothing), we jump start vehicle, it drives & seems fine no issue. Two days later (early morning) try to start car (completely dead), jump start again, car drives fine (no issue). I get to work (same issue, it's dead again, nothing). I jump start it ,take it to AutoZone & both battery and alternator pass and are good. Every since leaving AutoZone and through today, car seems to be doing OK. However the only thing I've don different is I don't keep the headlights on auto (I'm manually turning them on & off). Thoughts / Suggestions before I take it in for a diagnostic? Thanks so much.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your issues.

Just cutting to to chase her, just go and buy a brand new battery. Probably 90 percent of the issues like this are battery related. I just bought a new one myself and things are back to normal.

If if you can figure out the search on this site, you will find getting a new battery resolves most of the complaints.

Good luck.

I'd bet it's the battery as well. Every time you drain the battery and recharge it, the battery loses some capacity.

However, I'm wondering what's draining it.

When was your last battery change? For how long have you been using the current battery? Whats the current ODO on your LS 460 L.?

It's a Duralast Battery, February 2017, I have approx 131,000 miles. Yesterday and today the car seems to be doing OK. There is only one thing I've done differently and that is, I don't have my headlights turned on Auto. Also, I've noticed that everytime I start the vehicle, I have to turn my AC/Heat back on. It completely shuts off when I turn off the vehicle. In the past it's usually on where I left it.

No multimeter handy? Check battery voltage when engine is running(charging battery) vs. when engine is not running. It'll give a clue. Battery can go bad regardless of
it's age.' It's new so it must be good' Some times it is not.

The 10 month old battery in my 08 LS went out this week. Created a check engine light due to fault codes from crank position sensor, then motor wouldn't start.

Never had a battery die in less than a year before, but that's what it was.

Mine did the same thing, I replaced the battery and starter the alternator was fine. After my car sat a couple of days it would be dead again. They finally found out it was a parasitic drain coming from the drivers door handle.
