Track day session in an Ls460?
Has anyone ever done a track day session in their 07-09 LS? I'm taking mine out for a short session to see how it handles on the small local track.
Settings:
Settings:
Sport mode
Sport suspension
ECT PWR on
AC/lights etc off
Checks:
Take out the spare wheel and other junk from the trunk
Check tire pressures and torque wheel lugs.
Check oil and coolant levels.
Remove plastic engine covers?
setup gopro
I have the stock 19" 5 spoke rims and data systems controller. Could anyone advise a good height setting for best handling? I usually daily on 4F 3R. I have some Akata wheel spacers(15mm front, 20mm rear) Irecently took off due to causing a vibration I'm wondering is it better to put em back on for the track?
I know the kind of car the LS460 is and it's not supposed to be on track but I miss having a lighter track capable car so it would be good fun to see how it gets around!
Any other tips or suggestions welcomed!

It's a pretty boring car on the road so it can't be any worse on the track.
I'll be driving some other cars while down there too it will be good to see how sideways I can get the LS and how quickly I can kill off the tyres

Hey Dan, good for you! Agreed it is not a track car, but it should be good fun to take it around a track.
The only thing I would recommend is to do a brake fluid flush if it hasn't been done in the last 6 months. I don't think you have to remove the engine covers. If your spacers were causing vibration, I definitely wouldn't put them on for the track.
One more suggestion, have a friend take some pics and post them here!

L2 on the ASC.
Turn off the Traction Control completely.
Sounds like tons of fun to me. I would drive a washing machine around a road course if that's all I had. What you will do to the LS will only be hard on the brakes. But rotors and pads are easily replaced.

it was greaaaat fun i have to say, i was only out for 1 session, maybe 10-12 laps, My tyres were the first thing to let go, brakes held up fine and car was surprisingly controlable and controlable slides were easy to control once they tires got a bit too hot. I recommend some track orientated tires and pads for anyone thinking of doing this, The track was Mondello park in Ireland, defintely a small technical track suit to light Miata type cars not land barges such as the LS. I fell behind in the corners but kept up the pace on the straights. DOnt be afraid to track your LS, they are capable machines!

Sounds awesome. I didn't mean to make it sound like the brakes wouldn't hold up. I meant, it will wear the brakes. As in, you may be needing to replace pads or rotors MUCH SOONER than you would have, had you not done the track day. I didn't consider the tire performance. But what you say makes perfect sense about the tires getting hot and loosing grip. Some really good tires for that track day would have been Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's.
Would have like to have spectated. Did you happen to run a GoPro?
