Experienced a scary PCS false trigger...
So, yesterday I was on my way up to see my cousin in WV. Theres a section of highway at the interchange of I-70 to I-81 where they are doing a ton of construction, its pretty rough and the road heaves and transitions from asphalt to concrete and back again.
Well...something must have tricked my PCS into thinking I was about to hit something (Nothing was remotely close), and the car slammed on the brakes at about 50 MPH, tightened the seat belt, beeped and flashed at me. Luckily, nobody was behind me...
Our 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee had PCS and did that to me once, but it was on a residential street not a highway.
Years ago a member in the 4GS forum had that happen when I had my 4GS, and he traded it in on an LS without that feature. I can sort of understand why LOL
I'm not worried about it, sure it was a fluke but just thought I would share.

something similar happened to me while driving down the highway. major bumps and then it had the brake check light and parking system was indicating my auto E-brake was "malfunctioning". no actual braking happened but lights appeared that shouldn't have. very odd and concerning since it was in drive the whole time with no brake involved. it resolved after i pulled off to an exit and stop and parked the car then put it back into gear thankfully. but odd and concerning all the same.

I drove a friend's Tesla Model X on a trip to a neighboring city on a freeway where the dashed line was not well-painted (distracted paint striping truck driver maybe?). We were in autodrive mode, doing about 80. When in autodrive mode, the system will execute a lane change when you actuate the turn signal lever. We were in the middle of such a lane change when we came upon an oddly-painted area - whereby the system jerked the steering wheel back into the original lane mid-change, prompting my passengers to ask what the heck I was doing. I immediately turned the system off and realized that this experience was proof of my preference to always be in control of the vehicle I am driving - to never rely on an autonomous system to do the right thing.
While I am grateful for Blind Spot Monitoring systems (I notice fewer inattentive lane changes because people see their mirror BSM indicator light is on without having to actually look before they change lanes), they are really a substitute for correctly-adjusted mirrors, which eliminate any "blind spots". Every owner's manual should have a section devoted to correct sideview mirror adjustment. Sitting in normal driving position, you should not be able to see the sides of your car. This:

Maybe it detected something which cannot be seen?
Few months ago, I was cruising about 80mph, there was a over size truck at front right, the pcs beeped and warning was shown.
This morning I was driving at about 40mph, a pick up truck at my front right did a double lane changing to my left. The truck slowed down instead speeding up during the changing. While it was in front of me about 5 meters, the pcs started warning and beeping, but it did not brake.
Did your brake engaged immediately when it beeped?
I did not remember it automatically braked when the pcs was giving warning before except when using the radar cruse control.

Sometimes, with DRCC on, the car will suddenly brake and slow down when it mistakenly identifies a vehicle in an adjacent lane (on a sharp curve) as being in the same lane, but without activating PCS.
Steve's situation is rather unique, and I would have freaked out! I wonder if it was a gremlin...
