Took my LS460 to an official Lexus Dealer's collision center for bumper/fender repair hoping for proper results. When picking up, shocked to see huge gaps between the new bumper and car body. SA said probably its due to the aftermarket bumper per the insurance policy.
I've replaced/repaired bumpers several times on my previous cars at Toyota/Lexus dealers and indy shops and this is the first time to see this kind of quality, from an official Lexus Dealer. Regardless the source of parts, I would expect a better QA/QC. Will redo with an OEM bumper.
The insurance adjuster and the body shop have to get this right. Call the insurance co. now that the body shop pretty much failed you. They will get you taken care of. If you used a credit card protest the charge.
Yes Geico immediately called the Lexus dealer, ordered an OEM bumper. Wasted over $1000 in an attempt to save $200.
I'm just so surprised about the QA/QC of the Lexus collision center. How could they deliver a service/repairment of this level of quality, this is so non-Lexus
Last year I used the WS Lexus collision center and they would insist on OEM parts only. Now it all make sense since OEM parts prevent problems.
This time I picked the NS Lexus since on their website they boasts "winner of the Lexus Certified Collision Center of the Year".
The SA told me that they would try the AM parts first, confirming fitment and then proceed to painting & final assembly.
somehow the fitment problem was not caught in time, causing $1000+ additional cost to the insurance company and waste of time to me.
I wonder maybe the Lexus dealer needs to shoulder some of the re-work cost. Now it seems my insurance company paid the bill immediately.

I know there is a clip and one screw that hold that section on. I wonder if they forgot.
