Default key no detected

Hi Guys, I m new in this Lexus world, just bought a 2007 Lexus LS 460 with 100K miles on it.

This is the issue, my smart access is not working. I can unlock and lock my car pressing the keyfob butons, but, smart access wont work as it should.

Car battery was replace by a new one and also keyfob battery were replace properly. I'm guessing it may be some antenna issue.

I have been reading a lot of threads here and there, didn't found a solution yet.

Please help me out

Welcome to Club Lexus, and congrats on your new car.

I want to be sure I am understanding your problem. Do you mean that when you place your hand on the door handle button it will not lock or unlock the car?

That a right, it wont lock or unlock the car. And for turn the engine on I need to place the keyfob next to the start buton.

Before the car battery was replaced, could the car be started normally, with the remote wireless key in your pocket and pressing the START button while depressing the brake pedal? Do you have 2 wireless remote keys?

Yeah I'm wondering if the batteries were actually replaced in the keyfobs. Or maybe they put old one in by mistake. It's a very easy fix to replace the battery in the fob and see if that makes a difference.

He, the thread originator, has already told us that his remote wireless key works - "I can unlock and lock my car pressing the keyfob butons, but, smart access wont work as it should."

The wireless remote key has 2 modes, one being the LOCK and UNLOCK which are part of the long range mode (out beyond 30'). I don't believe this would work if the battery in the wireless remote key was defective or improperly installed.

Default Key Fob water connection

Hi all, I haven't posted in a while but wanted to share. I was have the same issue which start two days ago after rainfall. I pressed the key fob and nothing, popped the cap off the the door and used the key. I touched the key fob against the start button, the car started, and everything was fine, but I manually had to lock the door. I remembered that the door module was in the passenger side rear compartment next to the factory Amp (which I historically had issue in the past due to water getting back there). So I inspected the door module and noticed the red wire had some green corrosion on the connection next to the plug. I tugged a little and noticed it wasn't even making contact. After cleaning up the connection and plug, I crimped a pin connector and pushed it into the clip, plugged the clip back into the door module, hit the alarm button and the alarm activated.

I am unsure about others, but this issue is due to water getting into the drunk. Please keep a check on ya trunk. I have changed the stock ML amp, and parking brake module due to this issue in the past. I noticed this issue is only when the car is on an incline such as my driveway. I didn't have this issue when I would park flat. I have laid in the trunk and had my cousin hose down the car and still can't tell where the water is coming from. I have two friends with LS460's and have the same issue with water getting in the trunk. SMH. There are a vent on both sides of the rear bumper, and drain hose. I have poured water through the sun roof canal, and it was clear on all sides SMH. At the floor of the compartments there are rubber grommets, pop them out if need be for drainage. Just wanted to share, and I hope this save someone some money, and one less trip to the dealership.

Also if you have issue with your ML amplifier check the thick wire loom for a multi wire ground connection. This connection could possible be corroded. Take the cap off clean the corrosion out, recap it, and change the fuse in the passenger side kicker panel.

Have a good one....
