Self discharge rate is so low in modern automotive batteries that it is not even a consideration - the standby load of modern cars would deplete the battery long before self discharge would be a factor.
i have read that link many times. Info is generalized obviòusly. Also six years old. Non USA batteries are suspect. The largest battery maker known is east penn.

the shorter service life of flooded cell batteries that are being cycled was evidenced by the number of batteries both my lexus’s low use has had to have replaced.

This is from your link.

“AGM is making inroads into the start-stop function of cars. The classic flooded type is simply not robust enough and repeated cycling causes a sharp capacity fade after only two years of use. (See BU-806a: Heat, Loading and Battery Link””

We have had a ongoing battery discussion among our rv owner group since 1984. Long term results. Hundreds of owners.

pep boys has a longer warrranty on AGM's

yes it’s more money
