Default Parts Car

Found this site and all the wrecked LS460's they have for bid. Guess if someone needed a good parts car are maybe one they could be fixed.

Anyone ever checked this out??

Depending on where you live, you may not be able to purchase these cars.

This guy has a good series of videos about rebuilding cars he found at Copart. He also shows you why you better search the internet using the VIN before you bid on something.

Yes it was! My cousin wound up selling it...
Our ‘08 (rebuilt title) was purchased through one of the salvage auction sites. 14 months and 18k miles later, still purring along. Only thing we did was new battery and replace O2 sensor. There’s a small oil leak (valve cover seals need to be replaced - 118k miles on the car), but knock on wood, that’s been it.

I found it interesting that they had so many on the site. The ones that are flood cars are the ones with pre-bids. How much did you purchase one for?

I didn’t buy it directly. My cousin has a body shop and buys a lot of LS460s. We purchased it from him already fixed. The damage was relatively small (no airbag deployment). Since he buys quite a few of them, he always seems to have couple donor cars, so the parts are relatively cheap (for him, at least).

Do someone have access to coparts by chance? I am looking to get a parts car, but would have to go through a broker, which would add money that I can't afford.

Oh no, our 460s are in the 'parts car' discussion age now?

Hard to believe but some are now over 10 years old. The interiors on some of these wrecked cars are still very nice.

Any car that has value would be. Dealers don't care what type of car it is, as long as when in mint shape, its' worth high dollars. They can fix a higher end car, offer it at 65-0% of it's mint value and make a large profit. As long as it's repaired correctly, I would not even worry about it. The thing is, you'll never fully know if it was perfect, even with a pro looking over it, some internal damage they might not see.

Looking over some of these sites(this thread got me interested), If I knew people who would fix them fairly reasonable, I would almost think about buying a few to fix up and re-sell. Hmmmm...

If you can’t afford $300 you probably shouldn’t be trying to buy parts cars...

The idea for this was that I need to replace my Ecm. That my first goal and if that's not what fixes my problem, the transmission is next. The first by itself would cost $200. Getting a transmission will be $700. Getting a parts car would be $400-500 (which would have everything I need to fix my car. Even a good working engine).
If you think I'm going to not compensate for the help, that's wrong. I just don't have an extra $300.
