Default your opinions please

HI all, I have been thinking of buying this car. Haven't cared for the salesman I spoke to that much. The first time was about he price. He told me $26,900 then I saw it listed for 24,825. they said there was a miscommunication and they had to stick w lower price. They recently replaced the blower and lower control arms in the front. I just saw the certified, unlimited miles warranty on the picture. I texted the salesman and asked what was covered and he texted back, no extended warranty. I sent him a picture of it and I haven't heard from him. what do you guys think? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.....

ps: I am trading in a car most likely, I can't get them to move off their price and are low balling me on my trade. I cant get them to budge on either.

Yea - I almost purchased a car from them - guy named Reinhard. Someone purchased it before I could wrap it up. I was happy with him. I think they are a pretty stand up dealership and that car does look pretty clean. I also think the price seems fair for a 2012.

Good luck

Looks like a fairly good deal on a 2012 L model w/92k miles. No warranty, I'm sure (web site "typo"). No air ride suspension on this one, which some prefer. ML audio, rear side shades, no reclining rear seats...

I'm in the market for the same vehicle. I'm avoiding black cars, though, and would prefer to have AWD for Nebraska winters. Good luck!

funny thing is, the warranty wording wasn't there a week or so ago.
I don't want the air suspension. Black isn't my first choice but... it does look nice. Why don't you like black? Too hard to keep clean?

Saw on their website that unlimited mileage for CPO Mercs is for one year. If not on the web page in error, probably 30 or 90 days for non-Mercs, if even available. Somewhat surprised to not see any service records other than tires on the Carfax.

i was surprised to see lack of records as well. Would this be a big red flag? They said it was own by a 75 year old lady. One owner. It says 2 bc when her husband died she had to retitle in her name.I'm about 11/2 hours away so hard to swing by to check it out. Salesman went quiet(2nd time in my dealings w him) when I sent the picture that said it had an extended warranty. I Left 2 messages w the used sales manager but haven't heard from him either.
I was thinking of calling the gm and see what he has to say.

Yes! I love the look of a brand new, ultra-clean black Lexus, but it's so hard to keep the car looking like that it would wear me out! Even after washing and drying the car off, every little drip that comes from under the side mirrors can be seen clearly... I know lots of people like the look of a clean black LS460, but for me, it's just too much work.

Of course it's up to you, but whenever I have felt uncomfortable with a salesperson I run away. If it was me looking at this car, there are too many red flags. Certainly one can enter a deal feeling very comfortable and it all goes south, but when one feels uncomfortable from the start and then it goes south, well then you really kick yourself.

I once had a Lexus salesman blatantly lie to me. I gave him a chance to back out of the lie, but instead he doubled down. I contacted the GM thinking he would be concerned. Crickets. Years later the salesman was still working there. I guess at this dealership if a salesman produces, he stays no matter what. Obviously I wouldn't even step foot on the property again.

Thanks nospin, Kinda what I was thinking. I even thought of contacting the GM but I'll give it a day to think and see what I want to do. Like my dad always said...
"theres always another... (car, house etc)

Thanks all for the thoughts
Have a great weekend!

I always expect to get something on me when buying a car at a dealer, but if the deal is right I can pressure wash myself when I get home. I expect that.

I never trade in a car. I never buy any of their extended anythings. I never buy any of their protective coatings, sprays or treatments. By the end they're usually pretty pissed, I'm pretty pissed...its awkward, it's uncomfortable, but if it's the right car?? It's not regrettable.

Well said, Doublebase. My feelings exactly, except the extended warranty in some cases, but not usually from that dealer.

I think you already know the answer, perhaps maybe the responses here on the forum will add more justification to it.

I don't have a lot of experience with dealers. But I am definitely not confident in what they say or post.

This car has so many functions, do check everything before you sign the paper.

I would suggest check the owner's manual see how everything works and test it yourself. you can download it from lexus website.

The 07 I purchased in October was owned by an 85 year old lady (a client of mine) who had the car serviced religiously at the Lexus dealer, so all records were available. My point is I would expect the car to either have been serviced religiously at dealer, or serviced only when something went wrong. Nowadays even an oil change at Valvoline quick service shows up on Carfax.

Very true! I appreciate all the responses. I'm going to forget about this one. In my business I treat everyone like they were a family member. I guess I expect the same from people. Not having any records out there is the biggest red flag. I'm going to keep looking. Enjoy the day everyone!!
