Default No good deed . . .

The song from Wicked, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished", was my mantra last evening.

I saw the weather report for possible snow overnight. My wife was about to start cooking when I said: "Dear, let me take you out to dinner tonight, since it may snow tomorrow." She called some friends who said they'd meet us. We hopped in my car and hit the expressway. About 5 minutes in, a warning pops up on the dash. It says one of my tires is low. No problem, has happened before. Says the tire is at 26. Then 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20 . . . . I have never witnessed a tire go flat right in front of my eyes. By the time I parked the car in the furthest spot I could find, the warning was at 14. It was 6:45pm, but I called Lexus anyway. Service was closed. Interestingly enough, Lexus is only a few blocks away from the restaurant. Before our friends arrived, I decided to change the tire. I went in the trunk, and I could not find my lug key. I knew it wasn't in the glove box because I had changed the air filter. So, we walked to the restaurant.

By then, our friends arrived, and we had a nice dinner. As much as it pained me, we left the car, and our friends drove us home. It did snow overnight, but with the current rain, it's probably going to freeze considering the temp is roughly 25. I haven't called Lexus yet, but I will shortly. The saga continues!

Can you fill the tire up with a portable air pump and drive it?

Lexus Road Side assistance is a joke, I had to wait for them for more than two hours to give me a jump on a very cold Sunday and they never showed up. A friend rescued me...

Call and complain, they sent me a gift card for bringing this to their attention.

Car is home and garaged. Lexus did me a solid! They sent a guy over to my car this morning with the lug key and removed the one lug. I called my contact and he told me he had it on his desk and to come by next week to pick it up. I'll buy the key from them since they were so kind! Got the tire changed out (it was trashed) and I'll be buying a new set of tires later this afternoon. I love a good adventure!

I'm a member of AAA and they have changes many flats for me over the years. No one likes a flat tire. Interesting I was at a funeral and several church members change a flat tire on the hearse.

When I got home, I knocked off as much snow as I could and stuck it in the garage. Within a couple of hours, the garage was filled with water from both cars. Cars backed out, garage swept, snow and ice removed and now they are back inside. Such a fun day! Oh and notice the spare wheel on the front. Guess they don't put Telios on the spare. Ordered new tires and will have them put on next week.

well it all depends on where you live and the wrecking companies they sub-contract to..

I have AAA, Lexus, and Roadside through my insurance.. they all take 1.5 - 2 hours for emergency roadside assistance, and it is usually always an issue with the wrecker company, not the service itself.

interestingly though, the last time I used AAA; was to assist a buddy when his truck blew the transmission; he limped it to my house, and we called for a wrecker but scheduled it for the the next morning to take it to a shop, as nothing was open @ 9pm and the driver was on time.. Arrived dead on at 7am

Are you sure you even need new tires?

You could have a leak around the edges where the tire meets the wheel.

Ive had so many leaks, cracked wheels, and dents its second nature to me now.

I wouldn't just throw money at it , without finding out where the leak is coming from first.

Use a spray bottle with dish soap and water.

Oh yes! That tire was trashed. The tread pulled apart from the tire (which makes me question the tire in the first place). The other tires are beat up with chunks of tire missing from the sides. It's time.

4 things:
1. I wanted Michelin.
2. I wanted a sportier ride.
3. Costco had a great sale on all Michelin's and those where my choice for sport.
4. Discount Tire site, out of 27 reviews, gives them a 4.7 rating.

Costco has a 45,000 mile warranty and free life balance and rotate. They're installing them for 1 penny. Costco is 1.5 miles from my house. I bought my car in 2014. I've put 18,000 miles on it. The tires should last me until I decide to get something else.

My LS460 is the first car I've had with TPMS. A few years ago we were visiting my wife's sister in NYC. We were in stop and go traffic and about a quarter mile from getting on FDR Drive. I saw the same warning and saw the tire pressure drop 1 psi every few seconds. Thankfully it warned me before I got on the FDR because there is no breakdown lane on probably the busiest drive in the US. The warning enabled me to pull onto a side street before hitting the FDR and I changed the tire.

Oddly, I didn't pick up a nail, the sidewall had a cut in it. I don't know how it happened, but apparently in the stop and go traffic I must have run over some piece of metal.
