Debate....2008 LS600h or 2014 RX450h
I’m looking at two cars. ...a 2008 LS600h S package with 25000 miles. And a 2014 RX 450h L package with 35000 miles. Both In Great condition. About the same price. What do you guys think?

The LS is a much better car, but much older. What’s your threshold for repair costs?

Do you think the LS will be needing a lot more repairs? All my Japanese friends say the LS is built really well and as long as you do regular maintenance it should be good. And the previous owner did. And only drove it 25k in 9years.

It is built really well, but nothing lasts forever, and you’ve chosen the most complex LS version there is. Batteries, inverters, so on and so forth. It’s a 10-11 year old car that’s only been driven 2,000 miles a year, the mileage looks exciting, but if all of a sudden you buy it and start driving it a ton more, you might have some unforeseen problems.
How often has the pil oil been Changed? Etc.

If LS has been maintained well I would go with that (also its been driven less miles each year compare to RX). The driving exp between the two is totally different. Not knowing what options were included in both cars hard to say which would cost more on repairs in future.
Also your needs should be taken into consideration, for long drive, comfort back seating LS wins over RX. If you are buying for city driving and shopping etc, RX would be right fit.
But, if I were you I would look into options in both cars, compare and decide.

Not a lot to add here, but from my perspective, if you need the utility/cargo space, prefer to have the newer technology in the RX (though note you will have Mark Levinson system in the LS) and/or have any concerns about service cost of the hybrid system and air suspension, the RX would win. Yes, it too is a hybrid, but six years newer.
Otherwise, I would go with the LS provided that it has been maintained properly.
Funny enough, I had a loaner RX450h yesterday. I was all excited to get a hybrid, as my 600 is and will be garaged until the salt is all gone from the roads, and it was nice, but boy what a different experience - the ride, the power, etc. The LS600h is something else

Interesting. I've seen my share of "bare bones" 600s, as in no radar cruise, no rear seat upgrade, etc., but since MY2010 (at least) ML is the standard sound system. You are now making me wonder about whether it was standard for 2008-2009 as well (guess not).
We also do have the outside-the-U.S. factor to consider, as you point out (note, for starters, that OP is looking at a 600h, which is non-existent here [all LWB]).

What is the "S package"? I've been in the market for a second low mile LS600hl for a few months now. If I lived in Japan, I'd be hoping you'd pick the RX so I could scoop up the LS for myself.
Good Luck.
In my searching, I've only found fully loaded ones. Other than color, executive rear seat and pebble beach edition, all seem to have the same options. Unfortunately, all that appear to be perfect, have had accidents in their past ... so the search continues.

Even on a 10 year old hybrid with air suspension? The car I would prefer would be a LS600h all the way but the possible huge repair bills on that combo would terrify me and I just would not want to deal with it. I wouldn't want either one as a first choice, I would want a RWD LS460 or GS350 with lux package if sticking with Lexus.
