Prospective used LS 460 buyer asks?....
I have received excellent info here and have another question to ask.......... When should Models 2007to 20011 need water pump and or timing belt/gear replacement and other things such as plugs ignition wires etc????? I am up to date on the recalls , and the front suspension bushings and to avoid air suspension. Help please!

For 2007-2011 model years, the water pump is a weak spot and its durability varies from car to car. Quite a few owners had to change the water pump before their car reached 100K miles. You just need to monitor the water pump condition (i.e., watching the weeping pink signs and monitor water pump sound/noise) and replace it when needed. LS460 has a timing chain and doesn't need to be replaced like a timing belt. Other weak areas are the front control arms (worn bushings) and the brake actuator (under warranty until the end of the year - Dec. 31). Avoid air suspension models which are expensive to repair. Some didn't like the OEM brake rotors (tend to warp) and pads (dust and noise) and replaced them with after-market ones (e.g., Centric Premium rotors and premium ceramic pads). There are a few re-call repair items (e.g., valve springs) that you need to make sure have been done on the car you consider buying. For differences between options, see here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-and-vids.html.

water pump started leaking at 60k miles on my 2009 LS460.
it was very slow leak from the weep hole of water pump.
replaced water pump, radiator, drive belt, thermostat, radiator hoses all together, took me 6 hours.

Records for the 07 460 I recently purchased show water pump, drive belt, & tensioner replaced at 54k mi. Brake pads replaced and rotors machined at 62k. Also, starter was replaced at 72k mi. It has not had any control arm issues. The car had 73k mi when I bought it from a client in October.

Well I must have gotten lucky with my water pump (hope I didn't jinx myself), 168,000 miles, original water pump.
As far a short spark plugs go, I'd change them between 100,000-120,000 miles. There are no spark plug wires, just coils and they shouldn't need replacement (now if we were talking about an Audi or a VW, then yeah they'd be a problem).
Timig chain, no belt, just make sure you change your oil and keep that chain happy.

I replaced my water pump at about 80k miles. Paid 50 bucks for it and took me an hour or so to replace it. I replaced my spark plugs at about 90k miles. I'm now due for another change of plugs soon (according to the manual), but I think I'll leave them in a while longer. When I changed them out the first time, they still looked good. I noticed no difference in driveability after changing them.
