Disable Adaptive Light System (ALS/Intelligent Headlights)
Good evening all. Does anyone kno how to disable the adaptive headlight system? I have a 2013 Lexus LS460 F Sport. While I appreciate the "cool factor" of projectors that move/swivel around curves, it's really just a novel nicetie I'd rather disable so I don't have to worry about motors/solenoids going out.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

I wouldn't worry about it; my 2006 LS 430 with 90,000 miles on it still works fine. I've never turned the ALS off. Don't know if there's an option to turn it off on the LS 460. Check the manual.

I too would not worry about it. It’s a great feature too...

I looked on that side but the only switch looks like a headlight washing button. Where exactly is it on that side?
Also, I'm prob not going to worry about it since others seem to not have had an issue with it with theirs. I'd still like to know where the switch is though for control purposes lol.

I will look at mine but I don’t think I have that button.

Looks like the 2013-2017 doesn't have an AFS on/off button on the dash. I checked the manual and found that you have to go to the Vehicle Customization screen and scroll to that option.
I find it somewhat amusing when someone purchases a high-end car with advanced features and then is afraid to use those features because they might break. So, enjoy the AFS; and if it ever stops working go ahead and turn it off or spend $210 for the part and replace it yourself.

Well we all have our "things" and just because something is a part of a car doesn't mean that the driver needs/wants it. It's a personal preference thing. What I eat doesn't make you fat. Forums are to help individuals, so if you have something helpful to add please do. Making opinionated statements and having them co-signed by others adds nothing. Save your 2 cents and buy a new attitude. I asked because I'm sure I'm not the only person who's wondered that. I also created a post with a crush control issue I was having, where was your help there??? Exactly, so help when you can and when you can't just read along and save the sarcasm. Have a good day.

posts 4 and 5 are correct, usual reason to disable the feature is for mechanics to aim the lights.
The long term reliability of the lens mechanisms is good, what goes out are the suspension
connectors that tell the system that the car is lower under load so the light dip accordingly.
While you could always prop a business card over the offending yellow warning light it would
not seem that defeating the action would add any life to the underbody components.

When you post in a public forum, you need to be prepared for people to respond in ways you may not like. I never posted anything even remotely hinting at an attitude or a derogatory statement about you, I simply agreed with a statement that its unnecessary and silly to disable features on a car like this out of fear that they may brake instead of just enjoying the car that you bought. I have a right to voice that opinion, as did the poster who posted it and I will do so along with any other respectful opinion I choose to voice.
Ask all you want, and your question was answered...but you need to also be prepared for others to post opinions that you may not appreciate. My suggestion would be to simply ignore them or take their opinions gracefully.
