Interesting. I haven't heard the base system in the LS - I've had the ML in both of mine, but the base system in my RX300 and (especially) my IS250 are pretty darn good!

The base system is mediocre I agree. Base system in my GS was markedly better.

When I started looking, I had minium requirements for a LS460, I wanted the L becaise of the feature set but, one feature I refused was Air system.

When I saw LS460s (non L models), Navi and ML was the bear basics I would even look at. They could of showed me a 2012 with 30K for $7K with out Navi or ML and I would not even looked at it.... 0 interest...

One feature I wish I could of gotten was the Dynamic Cruse but, non were sold in New England in the 2007 and 2008 models because the feature does not work with snow on the car.

I have the base sound system and Its "ok" and NO, i WILL NOT go and sit in an LS that has ML. I only listen to MPR 80% of the time anyway...

Now, i am thinking of getting a supercharger...

The ML in the LS didn't impress me either. I listen to Satellite radio and music streamed over BT off my iPhone, IMHO these sources sound better on the base radio than the ML.

Agree wholeheartedly on this. After a car wash I go to the trunk to grab a microfiber towel and the trunk gutters proceed to channel water directly into the trunk. So annoying. Still love the car, but a few other pet peeves include the lag/slowness of the infotainment system, the fact that I can't get back the reverse camera if I change a radio setting while still in Reverse, and am also noticing the paint is very soft (as someone else has mentioned). I have used so much touch-up paint on this car. I try to drive away from semis or large trucks on the freeway but it seems there's always a new chip here or there each week, even with the clear protective bra on. I've had to touch up the hood edges, fender chip, roof chip, trunk chip, and passenger door. Still the best car I've ever had and love driving it. My wife's 2006 ES is so primitive compared to the LS and I used to admire her car for its smoothness and ride. Not anymore.

LOL! I was thinking of getting more HP out of the car since i got it. I am hesitating as its still under warranty.

So far been tracking down places in MN that might be able to do this.. I was cross shopping audi A8/S8 with LS 460 and since i'm mechanically inadequate/useless/duh... i ended up with lexus.

Anyway, not looking to go insane, but just to be "on-par" with the german car ~ 400 HP

Why bother with a super-charger for 15 more hp (for the amount of $ it would take to do a supercharger)? Go big or stay home. I've been kicking around an 80 hp shot of NOS for some time now. That would give me a 460 with 460 hp. But to be safe, timing should be retarded a bit (like 2°) at that amount of NOS. I don't know what to do about retarding the timing. So, I've just put a pin in it.

I don't like how the finish on the wheels has deteriorated, and I especially don't like how the wrap on the drip molding running from the base of the windshield to the bottom of the rear window peels off.

Pre 2013 high-beams really are horrible! Coming from the Audi with Bi-Xenon I was taken aback by how terrible they are especially since I used to make long trips in the dark back when I bought it. Coupled with the fact that the stock low-beams (which look excellent with clean and even spread of light) are aimed way too low so you're forced to use these atrocious high-beams. I'm guessing the 600hl wasn't affected by this though since they had all LEDs?

It has to do this since it doesn't cache the CD as it plays. So in order to start recording from track #1 it has to begin playing from track #1. I guess one thing they could have done would have been to continue recording from the track you started on and then double back since whenever it records it starts playing what it's recorded. Either way, it's one of those things that makes sense yet there are better solutions that could have been utilized. Sometimes it's hard to figure out if it's the programmers were just lazy or if there was a technical issue

So the Record CD that had all it's data, gets ripped (recorded) and gives no data for the track or tile information. So ripping a custom made CD (with different tracks from different artists) is worthless to rip to the internal drive BUT, if I want to use the CD, I will get data...

How much longer would it of it taken to set it up to USE THE DATA on the CD ? Really ?

Who was the moron who thought this up ?
I guess they have to justify including the Gracenote database somehow? But yeah, it's very annoying. I end up taking 30 - 60 minutes every now and then whenever I'm bored or waiting around and add in all the missing information. I've seriously debated just biting the bullet and upgrading my maps and Gracenote database.

The one thing I find annoying is when you turn off the car the stereo turns off with it. Why? The stereo should turn off when you open the door not when you turn off the car. So backwards but I guess that's nitpicky.

Perhaps that was a typo on your part. It's not 15 hp, it's upwards of 100 hp.
