Default New Exhaust Mod

Added a new mod the other day. The Exhaust Vent inserts are installed yourself in less than 20 min or so and totally reversible. I love the sound of the car now. I know our cars are designed to be quiet by design, but a little rumble is always nice. NO drone with these either. Very happy with them

I've had this mod for a couple of years and they are perfect for the sound I was after. Not too loud to be obnoxious or annoying.

I just sold my 2007 460L last week to my dad and bought a 2010 460L. I had these exhaust vents on my old one and took them off to put on the new one. Very easy to swap.

CJITTY - Now that you've had them for a while, are you still satisfied with them?

roadfrog - Intrigued? There's a cure for that.

THAT ... is an excellent question. I've never thought about it. But it MUST (due to design) come from where the Exhaust Vents are placed. But, you know, if you buy a surround sound system for your home, and it comes with a sub, the instructions indicate that the positioning of the sub (within reason, i.e. within the same room), is not critical. Because the bass type sound is much less directional (I think that is how it was explained). Well, that's the case with the Exhaust Vents. The sound (which is deep) has to come from where these Exhaust Vents are placed, but from behind, it's not apparent that it's not coming from the tailpipes.

And, since the Exhaust Vents "vent" directly away from the vehicle, the sound waves will bounce off the pavement. That will make the sound waves scatter. You can hear the sound from all around the vehicle, but again ... it's not apparent that the sound is not coming from the tailpipes. It just sounds good, and because of that, I never noticed it from *where* ... I just noticed it sounds great!

Did you ever sell the used set you had last fall? Still on the fence here.

One might encounter a completely different, and unwelcome, effect from sitting in the parked car or in very slow traffic (my experience is the Van Wyck Expressway).
The exhaust gas, released under the floor (illegal in every state if OEM, grounds for failing inspection in some) contains CO and CO2, and will give you quite a headache, or put you to sleep. With any luck, the volume exiting will be continuously flushed away before it penetrates the floor in any quantity.

I have sat in mine for extended periods of time engine running and never noticed anything out of the norm, except a nice sound. Keep in mind, these are far far back of the catalysts. The catalysts continue to do their job. This mod has zero effect to the catalyst performing their job. These Vents will also NOT effect emissions testing. Your vehicle will pass emissions just the same way as it did before these. How do I know? I have to do emissions testing where I live!

As for inspection, I highly doubt any inspector, on his on merit will ever point to this flanged joint and go ... what is that? They are not easy to see, they blend in, just look like part of the exhaust. And even if they did notice. They come right out! Take them out before an inspection (if it bothers you), and put them right back in when the inspection is over! THAT'S PART OF THE BUEATY, NO PERMANENT CHANGE!

As little gas as is released, if you're concerned about some air flow blowing it on or into the vehicle ... well, there is a much much greater exhaust leak about 18 inches away (I'll go measure it to confirm).
