Extended Warranty (VSA) is apparently transferrable.
I recall reading here that the Lexus VSA (Vehicle Service Agreement) is not transferable.
Well, I just got the agreement contract (a booklet from Lexus Financial Services) for my (Platinum to spring 2025) VSA I bought on my 2014 LS460 CPO, and on page 8 it says:
TRANSFERRING THE AGREEMENT.
This agreement is transferable only if (1) it has not been previously transferred,
(2)it is being transferred between private parties(excluding vehicle retail outlets), and (3)the original owner of this agreement signs below to authorize the transfer or provides written authorization for transfer.
[There is a form to fill out with names, addresses, dates, mileage, and signatures and an address to mail the form (Agreement Administrator, PO Box 9550, Cedar Rapids IA 52409).]

Correct, CPO not transferrable, VSA is.

Great. Thanks for clearing that up. It's a subtle difference that escaped me and was not explained in the other posts about this I have seen.
So, that means I can sell my car privately in about 3 years if I want with, say, 40,000 miles and the buyer will get 5 years of the VSA warranty with *unlimited* miles.
That almost seems too good to be true.
Ha! Watch this space in 3 years or so if I get the itch to buy a new car (or the next gen LS) for a good deal on a 2014 LS with this warranty.

And if you don't want to transfer the VSA, I believe you can get a pro-rata refund...

Wow, I'll have to read the fine print (there's a ton of that). That's pretty darn nice of Lexus if true.
My Mercedes 2006 CPO S-Class extended warranty I got in '09 cost about $1500 more than the LS and only lasted for 3 years (and I think 50-60,000 miles max).
[ I just checked, and now Benz offers unlimited miles on CPO warranty, but the MAX you can get for is 3 years. That's it. Not good enough in my book.]
I probably would have bought another CPO S-class if they offered me an 8-year extended warranty since I did really like the car, but the repair bills for little things was really adding up.
I think if Mercedes wants to get some more buyers, they should really stand behind their cars and offer a long warranty for 8-10 years, which is impossible to get from them.
They make a nice car to drive, but people avoid them because of the expensive repairs down the road. If I could be sure I'd have almost a decade w/o those costs, I'd be a repeat customer.
But it seems like they like to make all this money off of their buyers for repairs. Sad...

Yes, and the refund has always been a pleasant surprise amount-wise. I've now done this on three cars (GX470, LS460L and LX570), and when all has been said and done, the VSAs have more than paid for themselves. Most recently, when getting rid of LX, having almost an entire year left on VSA netted several $100 (nice little down payment on the extensive clear bra treatment for the new one, LOL).

As for repairs, this is like an insurance policy, so your having used the VSA for repairs has zero impact on the amount of the refund. There are no additional deductions for use of the plan.
