Default Extended warranty questions

I have an '07 LS460 that I bought in '10 with 7000 miles on it. I bought the 8 yr/75,000 mile Lexus Platinum extended service plan. I now have just north of 33,000 on it and am considering extending the warranty because of all the electrics in the car. My local dealer says I can get up to a 5-yr extension if I renew before this policy expires on 11/15 of this year. The dealer in Shreveport says the same, but says I must buy AFTER this policy expires. The person at Sewell in Dallas says that there is no policy available except the 8-yr from first in-use date, which I have.

The Shreveport dealer has the best price I've found, but I'm concerned about waiting until AFTER my current policy expires to renew fearing if he is wrong, I can't get coverage. Can anybody give me the real availability of the extended plan and when to renew?

I believe the person at Sewell is correct. You have the longest term available.

I'm in the same boat but was under the impression that once the Lexus Platinum extended policy expires, we can't renew/extend it anymore. I sure hope I am wrong, curious to find out what transpires.

I need to make a post about extended warranties because I spent a lot of time researching then before I settled on buying a 2011 instead of a 2008, but in short, go with Toby from Lexus of Shreveport. He will give you the best price by far and will give you the most options with respect to the Platinum warranty.

I have a brochure on the Lexus Extra Care Platinum agreement and it says that "cars within the current plus 9 model years and has less than 125,000 miles" are eligible. Then it goes on to say that "these plans are available through your Lexus dealer ONLY (only underscored) at the time of a used vehicle purchase".

I have left a message at the dealer about that point and am waiting for him to return my call.

Yes, this is true but I think some dealers are more flexible than others.

Talked to Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield. Direct number 413 772 0989 and he confirmed that after the extended warranty expires we can't get another one. I also talked to another dealer in KS and was told that a local Lexus dealer can offer a 5y/60k Lexus platinum warranty. I then called few Lexus dealers in CA but was turned down, they said it's only available if you buy a used car from them.

I'd love to know where i can get the 5y/60k Lexus platinum warranty in CA?

Just call around a couple more dealers. You should find one that will accommodate you.

It seems as if the Lexus Extra Care Platinum is a plan designed to be sold with used cars sold and checked by Lexus. Some dealers will sell it on a car that has been protected by the Lexus warranty for the complete life of the car. They don't want to sell it to a car that has known problems and looking for a cheap way out of an expensive repair.
