fyi all rapid battery charging decreases battery life.. an estimated 40%.. so if batt life is 10 yrs.. you're now looking to replace it in 6.... dont get me wrong i understand the desire for an electric car..i just think they need much better range to be useful. because a 5hr rd trip is now 8hrs or longer....
From a common sense standpoint, Tesla wouldn't build a network of superchargers if their use adversely affected battery life significantly.

they can spin it anyway they like... its basically a deep cycle (not that its designed to be run dead flat) but its designed to provide a steady flow of power for an extended period of time.. rather than short burst of high power like a normal starting battery. hence you MUST recharge it the same way slow an steady.. I'm sure they're not going to post billboards that theres a huge flaw in their design.. like the other flaw they purposefully left out...
i pose this simple question.. why is there no basic alternator of any kind on a tesla? yes they have "regenerative braking" but thats about useless.. why not engineer the opposite (now i know u cant build a real perpetual motion vehicle as energy will be wasted too heat.) but i submit if u have 4 motors driving one on each wheel (heck even 2 will do) that if said motor had a common shaft running thru it wheel on 1 side an a rotor inside a stator on the other.. so as long as the vechile is moving you'd be "regenerating" power to the batteries at the same time as moving the car... heck simplify it.. put a pulley on an axle to drive a damn alternator (run to a 2nd batt bank that can be toggled between as with dual fuel tank cars)
the simple answer is the oil companies wont allow it... who would buy a gas car then? so they limit the range on all vehicles to a preset limit.. 300-500 miles (depending)
but I've gone off topic.. the tesla does a great job for what it is... a daily commute or short range vehicle... but i love nothing better than a last minute (or planned) road trip... not really fun sitting around waiting on batts to charge..
