TPMS/Tire Rotation
The cars have a TPMS (benchmark) Set switch that is located under the dash on the driver's side. This switch should only be operated for benchmarking the TPMS as operation at any other time will compromise the safety advantage or increase the false alarms.
When rotating tires on cars that use the same benchmark pressure on front and rear, which is the most common configuration, there is no necessity to redo the benchmark for rotation. Conversely, if you use different pressures on front and rear then you would need to do the benchmarking each time the tires are rotated.
Cars that have the tire pressure localization type display would need to be benchmarked each time the tires are rotated if you want the display to have the correct locations as localization only occurs during the benchmarking. Localization is a novelty thing and has no impact on the safety provided by the TPMS. I am not sure but I think the localization type display began with the '13 models.
The owners manuals caution that the TPMS needs to be benchmarked if the battery is fully discharged or disconnected. I am not sure this is true as I suspect disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it sets all 5 benchmarks to 33 PSI but I always redo mine just in case. There is no way to display the benchmarks so if you are not sure how yours are set then you need to do the benchmarking yourself.
